Research Assistants are normally students, in a University of Winnipeg undergraduate program, employed to assist with tasks related to research. Work is performed within defined guidelines and under supervision of a more senior researcher or faculty member.

Position Overview:

This research assistant will support the development of an open access biomechanics textbook, primarily by engaging with the peer-reviewed literature to identify case examples of topics covered in the text and labs, as well as outcomes related to open educational resources. Some preparation of equipment and/or software may also be done.

Duties:

  • Perform literature reviews of peer-reviewed and grey literature.
  • Summarize and interpret findings of scientific papers.
  • Set up biomechanics equipment used at the undergraduate and/or consumer level.
  • Assist with the production of manuscripts.
Qualifications
  • Graduate of a Kinesiology Undergraduate degree.
  • Completion of biomechanics coursework with a high academic standing.
  • Knowledgeable of biomechanics equipment and procedures used in undergraduate labs.
  • Proficient in word processing and spreadsheet software (e.g. MS Office).
  • Experience in instruction of undergraduate biomechanics labs and/or courses.
Condition(s) of Employment:
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
The period of work will be from ASAP - August 31, 2023 and the estimated total hours of work will be 100 hours.
