WIHV is an innovative and dynamic team of clinicians, researchers, healthcare leaders, patients and students working to address gaps in our healthcare system through research-driven insights and solutions. This position is with WIHV's Implementation Science team and will support work on the BETTER Women project. BETTER Women is a four-year project that will implement and evaluate a peer health coaching extension to an established program that supports primary care patients in achieving goals for chronic disease prevention and screening.

Summary of Duties, but not limited to:

  • Assists with the day to day tasks involved in implementation science research studies, primarily focused on the BETTER Women project
  • Conducts evidence or literature reviews using PubMed, MEDLINE, or other health sciences databases
  • Assists the project team with Research Ethics Board applications including drafting, submitting, and managing amendments to the applications
  • Responsible for conducting telephone, online, or in-person interviews to recruit study participants and collect study participant data including obtaining informed consent
  • Reviews medical records to collect and securely transfer research data
  • Supports and maintains web-based surveys and consent forms
  • Collects qualitative and quantitative data and performs data entry, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of data collection and investigating missing or invalid data
  • Prepares data sets and supports qualitative and quantitative analysis and interpretation of results
  • Prepares and mails out letters of information to research participants or collaborators
  • Assists with submission of manuscripts to scientific journals; may involve creating tables and figures, proof reading, preparation of cover letters, coordinating documents for signatures, and electronic submission
  • Communicates with Research Coordinators, Manager (as appropriate) and/or Principal Investigators to provide updates
  • Supports internal and external stakeholder engagement and communications, including preparing materials for proposals, progress reports, presentations, and publications
  • Prioritizes and monitors various study deadlines for their own work
  • Helps maintain research files including storing, accessing, and retrieving study data as specified at one or more sites
  • Schedules and attends research meetings, including preparing and distributing agendas and meeting minutes

Qualifications
  • Undergraduate degree in a related field; graduate degree considered an asset
  • 6 months to 3 years of experience doing research in a hospital or academic setting
  • Knowledge and proficiency with MS Office applications including Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Word required
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organizational, prioritization, and time management skills
  • Ability to multi-task while maintaining attention to detail
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills; demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment with a wide variety of people at different levels
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills; works well independently, uses good judgment, and takes initiative
  • Good understanding of research design and research ethics
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to the PHIPA
  • Ability to perform duties in a professional and courteous manner and produce high quality work while meeting deadlines in accordance to WCH standards
  • Good work and attendance record required
  • Demonstrated knowledge of WCH vision, mission and values
  • Professional behaviour and communication that meets the standards of the professional regulatory college or association, as applicable, and the standards of Women's College Hospital
  • This position plays a critical role in acting as an advocate for safety and will demonstrate principles, practices and processes that will optimize a safe environment for all
