Job Summary
Reporting to the Program Manager, Newfoundland and Labrador Centre on Substance Use (NLCSU), the Research Assistant I (RA I) will assist with ongoing research and evaluation surrounding substance use and harm reduction issues. This position will also take a lead role in the implementation and evaluation of the provincial take-home naloxone program. The RA I will assist with monitoring and evaluation of activities and education sessions in the NLCSU program. The RA I will also assist with study questionnaires or surveys (virtual or in person, etc.). The Research Assistant I will assist the NLCSU team in coordinating and preparing literature reviews, knowledge synthesis on relevant topics, and various knowledge exchange products. The RA I may also be required to support senior staff with reports, needs assessments or environmental scans for various topics in substance use and harm reduction as needed. Other duties may be required as assigned by the Manager.

Job Qualifications

Education
Undergraduate coursework in a health-related or social sciences field is required.
Experience
A minimum of one year of experience within the last three years working in a research setting is required.
Experience in report writing and conducting environmental scans are assets.
Competencies (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities)
Knowledge of substance use disorders and harm reduction is an asset.
Knowledge of research and evaluation approaches in various settings.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Demonstrated individual leadership skills and autonomous critical thinking ability.
Demonstrated time management skills as well as the ability to prioritize and work in a dynamic and collaborative environment.
Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills and the ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships.
Demonstrated strong teamwork skills and the ability to work collaboratively.
Demonstrated effective research and analytical thinking skills.
Ability to conduct literature searches and synthesis of findings.
Ability to ensure confidentiality and work in an ethical manner.
