Reporting directly to our Project Manager, the Renovation Technician will be responsible for executing a variety of renovation projects across our multi-family asset portfolio located within the GTA and Hamilton. Responsibilities include project planning & costing, project execution and project reporting.
Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities
Project Management
o Assist our Capital Improvement Team with the planning and costing of various projects across our portfolio.
o Providing regular updates on project status.
o Collaborate and/or manage a series of trades supporting various projects.
o Co-ordinate projects with Property Management Team members.
Project Execution
o Paint and Plaster work - Paint and plaster apartment units.
o Ceramic tile installation - Perform large format tile installation in areas such as lobbies and corridors with good workmanship.
o Carpet tile installation - Prepare the substrate and install carpet tile in corridors or large commercial spaces with good workmanship.
o Vinyl plank flooring - Prepare the flooring surfacing for a high-quality finish. Install LVP in large areas such as apartment corridors and rental suites.
o Carpentry - Install baseboard, doors, and kitchen cabinetry.
o Minor plumbing - Repair or replace damaged toilets in occupied suites and execute full building toilet retrofits. - Rarely
o Minor electrical - Change light fixtures and replacing receptacles/switches in corridors while following strict health and safety protocols. - Rarely
o General labor - Perform repetitive lifting (50lbs) and other strenuous tasks such as working on your knees or standing for extended periods of time. Execute other miscellaneous tasks as directed by the Renovation Project manager. - Often
o Health and safety - Recognition and reporting of safety hazards on a construction site including but not limited to falling, slipping, tripping, airborne and material exposure, and electrical incidents. - Always
Requirements of the Role:
o Ability to work unsupervised - Consult with the project manager to define the scope of work. Complete projects with minimal supervision while managing on-site order of operations and maintaining a clean and safe job site.
o Team player - Collaborate with project managers and contractors to complete a different variety of projects in a team setting.
o Ability to provide project progress reporting - Provide updates to the project manager's work site advancements. Monitor material use and tool condition.
o Must possess a valid Ontario Driver's License and your own reliable vehicle (truck/van preferred, monthly car allowance provided).
