Applications are invited for the regular position of part-time Construction Renovation Technician in the School of Trades. The starting salary is $24.05 /hr for a 24 hour work week. Additional hours may be required at peak times during the year such as start or end of term. This position is located at the Welland Campus.


Reporting to the Associate Dean, School of Trades, the successful candidate provides highly specialized technical support to ensure the efficient and safe operation of the Technology Skills Centre lab facilities. The incumbent will co-ordinate all construction lab related activities by providing guidance and support to programs, faculty and students. This position is the first point of contact for all lab and facility related inquiries.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:



Daily maintenance, housekeeping and resourcing of labs, out buildings and other college areas as required Maintain all fixed and portable tools in the construction programs, including a supply of replacement parts and an adequate inventory of components, equipment and consumable supplies Recommend technical specifications for equipment, tools, and devices required by the Technology Skills Centre and contact vendors for pricing, availability and delivery Design, build and test prototype projects and laboratory activities for professors for inclusion in student course work Assist professors when requested in supervising and aiding students in laboratory work Ensure that all health and safety requirements are met

Qualifications:



Minimum two (2) year diploma in Construction and Renovation Techniques or similar field of study Minimum two (2) years of construction trade related industry experience Strong organizational, communication and computer skills Proven ability to demonstrate and follow safety procedures Ability to handle diverse requests for technical assistance and information Demonstrated ability to problem solve Ability to work well in a team environment
