Reliability Engineer Albian Operations

Job Description


The Opportunity:

Reporting to the Lead, Engineer Reliability, you will provide technical/engineering support to plant operations and maintenance to ensure safe and reliable plant operation. You will be responsible for improvement of area rotating equipment, unplanned downtime, continuous improvement of rotating equipment reliability, and proactive PM plan.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Regularly monitor equipment performance and take corrective action when equipment is not going to meet its next PM date
  • Fully understanding of equipment health status, identify and assess equipment performance anomaly and take set of proactive actions to fix issues before it become an unplanned failure
  • Own rotating equipment issues when happened and work with other disciplines as a single point of accountability to resolve it
  • Carry out continuous improvement initiatives to resolve systematic issues of rotating equipment
  • Developed and maintain a list of forward looking bad actors of rotating equipment and drive for resolution
  • Interface with all departments to support maintenance functions and activities
  • Knowledgeable in equipment troubleshooting and component failure analysis. Experience with crusher, conveyor, pulley and slurry pump will be an added advantage.
  • Knowledgeable in RCA (root cause analysis), FMEA (failure mode effect analysis) and PM strategy
  • Lead root cause failure analysis to identify true root cause and eliminate future failures
  • Develop PM (preventative maintenance) plans, maintenance strategies and spares requirement to ensure reliable operation of the plant
  • Follow to company policies and procedures to lead rotating equipment improvement initiates
  • Comply with all Health and Safety Requirements established by Canadian Natural Resources Limited
  • Know and comply with all regulations and legislative requirements of the Occupational Health and Safety Act for the Province of Alberta and environmental standards
  • Follow safe work procedures and ensure all personnel comply

  • Job location: Albian Oil Sands, Fort McMurray, Alberta
  • Shift schedule: 4x3 \xe2\x80\x93 Monday to Thursday, 10 hours per shift

Skills & Qualifications:
  • Engineering Degree is required, preferably mechanical or materials
  • Registered or eligible for registration as a professional engineer (P.Eng.) in Alberta with APEGA is required
  • 5+ years of experience in an operating facility, extensive experience with rotating equipment
  • 5+ years of experience in solid handlings equipment such as crushers, apron feeders, rotary breakers as well as conveyor belts is preferred
  • Good working knowledge and understanding of CEMA, Slurry transportation, API, ASME and ABSA requirements
  • Experience with vibration analysis monitoring and lubrication programs
  • Extensive background in preventative maintenance and spare parts startegies
