Therefore, we are seeking a Reclamation and Compliance Coordinator to join our growing team in Calgary, Alberta. This dynamic role will be instrumental in responsible for overseeing reclamation projects and ensuring regulatory compliance with environmental laws and standards. This responsibility includes proactive disposition management planning, environmental site assessment, remediation, and reclamation of dispositions no longer used for the company\xe2\x80\x99s assets in Canada and Ensuing compliance with all relevant environmental legislation and standards.Your Background

  • A bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree in ecology, soil science, environmental science, land reclamation or related field is required
  • Fully qualified professional accreditation is required, depending on the area of specialization (e.g., Registered Professional Agrologist or Biologist)
  • A minimum of five years of relevant oil and gas experience in environmental site assessment, remediation, reclamation, and post-reclamation projects preferred
  • Knowledge of environmental site assessment, environmental reclamation and remediation criteria, regulations and guidelines for well sites and industrial facilities and associated reporting in Alberta and British Columbia
  • Strong understanding of provincial and federal environmental regulations
  • Knowledge of AER and BCER liability management regulations
  • Strong environmental background in wildlife, wetland, plant science, soil science, geology, hydrology, ecology, or biology preferred.
  • Knowledge and experience with wildlife and/or wetland policy, monitoring, and research is preferred
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage a demanding workload in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to perform and make decisions under a high degree of autonomy and independence, within broad guidelines and policies
  • Superior project management skills
  • Detail-oriented with strong verbal and written communication skills with ability to communicate complex issues in a simple and straight forward manner
  • Strong interpersonal skills and collaborative working style
  • Valid Class 5 driver\xe2\x80\x99s license
  • Able to travel to sites, when needed
Your Role with Our Team
  • Plan and implement remediation and reclamation activities
  • Manage environmental consultants and coordinate field programs including phased Environmental Site Assessments (ESA), vegetation management, site reclamation, reclamation monitoring, data tracking and reporting to internal stakeholders
  • Complete reclamation certificate applications and work with regulators as required to secure reclamation certificates
  • Ensure compliance standards are met for environmental site assessment, remediation, and reclamation
  • Assist in closure program planning and overall liability reduction strategy in Alberta and British Columbia
  • Complete regulatory submissions including, but not limited to, annual Conservation and Reclamation Reports
  • Represent CNOOC and provide technical and regulatory expertise regarding contaminated sites, reclamation or conservation efforts to team to support industry advocacy and regulatory changes
  • Assist in the development and implementation of internal policies and procedures related to environmental management and compliance
  • Conduct regular audits and assessments of company practices to identify areas of non-compliance. Prepare detailed reports on findings and recommend corrective actions
  • Identify potential compliance risks within company operations and support developing strategies to mitigate these risks. Conduct periodic reviews to assess the effectiveness of risk management practices
  • Promote a culture of compliance within the organization by identifying opportunities for process improvements and best practices related to regulatory adherence
  • Assisting in writing high-quality reports, cost estimates, and proposals
