Job Summary

We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Reading & Math Tutor to inspire students and foster their academic growth in literacy and numeracy. In this role, you will deliver engaging, personalized tutoring sessions that help learners develop essential skills in reading comprehension, mathematical reasoning, and problem-solving. Responsibilities

Implement tailored Sylvan lesson plans that align with individual student needs and curriculum standards in reading and math. Provide individualized tutoring sessions in a 3:1 setting, focusing on foundational skills such as phonics, vocabulary, comprehension, reading fluency, numbers and operations, algebra, geometry, and math facts. Maintain a positive learning environment by practicing effective table management techniques that keep the students engaged in their learning. Record scores of student's work and communicate student achievements, and areas for further development.

Qualifications

Proven experience working with children or students in an educational setting; tutoring experience is highly valued. Strong knowledge of reading comprehension, vocabulary, and phonics, as well as mathematics (numbers and operations, algebra, geometry, calculus). Adaptability to diverse learning styles. Proficiency with learning technology tools and digital platforms for in-person or remote tutoring sessions. Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex concepts clearly and engagingly. Fostering a supportive learning environment. Experience working with students who have special education needs or require additional support is a plus.
Job Types: Part-time, Permanent

Pay: $16.00-$18.00 per hour

Expected hours: 6 - 20 per week
