About Our Opportunity

The objective of the Resilient Agricultural Landscape Program (RALP) is to increase the environmental resiliency of agricultural landscapes by accelerating the adoption of on-farm land use and management practices that maximize the provision of multiple ecological goods and services (EG&S). Ecological goods and services are the benefits society derives from healthy functioning ecosystems. This includes the maintenance and provision of healthy soil and water resources, wildlife habitat and biodiversity, as well as adapting to the impacts of climate change (e.g. increasing carbon storage and resilience to floods and droughts).

As the RALP Coordinator, you will lead the administration and coordination of the Resilient Agricultural Landscape Program (RALP) within the Department of Agriculture and support the agricultural sector and the Department to develop projects that provide an incremental benefit in ecological goods and services.

Primary Accountabilities

As the successful candidate, your primary accountabilities will be:

  • Providing navigation and coordination of the Resilient Agricultural Landscape Program.
  • Developing and providing expertise, communication, and extension resources on agricultural beneficial management practices that support ecological goods and services.
  • Building partnerships and collaborating internally and externally.
  • Coordinating program development, budget tracking, outcome assessment, reporting, and audit coordination. As well as administration through the development and use of a GIS based client system, GIS data gathering, site visits and inspections.
You will also provide departmental representation for ecological goods and services initiatives (Federal, provincial and Industry).

Qualifications and Experience

To be successful in this role, you must have a University degree in Agriculture or Environmental Sciences (equivalencies will be considered), and either be a member of the Nova Scotia Institute of Agrologists or be eligible for membership. You must understand agricultural beneficial management practices that support ecological goods and services in NS.

A minimum of six (6) years of related work experience in agronomy services associated with primary agriculture and/or agri-environmental conservation. An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.

You also possess the following:
  • Partnership and relationship building skills.
  • Ability to break complex information down into understandable messages;
  • Ability to use office technology, software and applications.
  • Communication skills, including report writing, proposal development, and briefing materials; as well as presentation skills;
  • Planning and organizing skills.
  • ArcGIS experience and training is required.
  • Membership with the Nova Scotia Institute of Agrologists is required.
  • Written and spoken competence in English is required.
  • A valid class 5 driver licence as issued by the Province of Nova Scotia, or equivalent is required.

Working Conditions

This position will require travel within the Province and may require travel outside the Province as required. The position is located in Bible Hill, Colchester County.

This is a Term employment opportunity with an anticipated end date of June 2026. The appointment status (\xe2\x80\x98term\xe2\x80\x99, \xe2\x80\x98temporary\xe2\x80\x99 or \xe2\x80\x98casual\xe2\x80\x99) is dependent on the start date of the successful candidate.

Pay Grade: PR 17

Salary Range: $3,091.70 - $3,631.17 Bi-Weekly
