There is an exciting opportunity to join the site R&D team in Bolton Petcare plant within the Quality & Food Safety function as the Quality Management Program Specialist. The purpose of this role is to maintain, design and improve the site Quality Management System to comply with the Mars Global Quality Standards.

What are we looking for?

Education & Professional Qualifications

• BS degree in Food Science, Food Safety, Engineering, Chemistry or related technical field and internship in quality and food safety in a manufacturing environment
• Combination of education and 3+ years of demonstrated success in manufacturing/ quality experience.
• 2-3 years of experience in a manufacturing site managing quality and food safety management systems responsible position related to food safety or Quality and food safety management system

Knowledge / Experience

• Understanding of key scientific principles associated with food & ingredients
• Ability to work effectively in cross functional teams
• Demonstrated capability to manage multiple priorities
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Strong presentation skills
• Food safety risk, identification and management, HACCP and prerequisite controls. Knowledge of GMP, food allergens, pest control, sanitation, and food safety regulations
• Knowledge of GFSI Quality Systems such as SQF, FSSC22000 or ISO9000
• Demonstrated leadership capabilities in leading/influencing others

What will be your key responsibilities?

• Drive the site based internal audit program to ensure all processes and procedures are managed in accordance to corporate Quality and Food Safety Standards, Business Unit QFS directives and FDA regulations. Partnering with BU QMP Team.
• Implement global Mars standards into the value stream & drive to full compliance
• Internal Audit- Develop and manage an effective site internal auditing program to ensure compliance to FSSC and QMP standards. Assuring local internal auditors have been trained. Ensure completion of internal audits in a timely manner. That site is adhering to timeline and corrective actions are being implemented drive compliance and continuous improvement. Act as site main point of contact for all questions regarding internal audit system.
• Facilitate the corrective and preventative action programs in compliance to MARS QMP standards.

• Manage corrective action program to ensure compliance and provide direction for improvements.
• Assure visibility to CAPA program through review meetings, routine follow up and guidance for CAPA owners.
• Provide Training on relevant Q&FS standards to site associates
• Document Control- Oversee site document control program and assure compliance via timely review and updates as required.
• Back up for PRIMP incident owner
• Member of Site Food Safety Team

This position will work with (but not limited to) operations, maintenance, engineering, logistics, and the business unit to assure all Q& FS Standards are implemented across the site in order to assure compliance to Mars & Regulatory Standards.

• Compliance is measured through review meetings, internal audits, training, tracking of KPIs, and escalations as appropriate.
