Quality Control Supervisor

Role and Objectives:
The Quality Control Supervisor, under the direction of the Continuous Improvement Manager, is responsible for reviewing upcoming production plans to alleviate bottlenecks in the finishing department. You will work closely with the Quality Technicians, Production Supervisors and Production Coordinators to maintain superior product quality and value optimization across operations while remaining in compliance with applicable company standards and programs.
Responsibilities:
Understand and comply with all company policies and procedures.
Ensure that Company quality standards are effectively implemented.
Provide leadership in safety by adhering to all safe work procedures (SWP) and practices. Ensure you are signed off annually.
Help identify areas where we may be exposed to safety hazards and assist in the development of new SWP's.
Conducting root cause analysis for the non-conformances, and providing resolution plan(s) on the nonconformances. Working with the Finishing Supervisor to prioritize NC remediations.
Overseeing daily Quality Operations while ensuring the PRG320, ANSI, and CSA test requirements are met, supporting Quality Control Technicians in performing product testing
Supervise and coach the Quality Control Technicians, providing training and support to ensure departmental outcomes are achieved.
Ensure operational excellence in quality control, data management, inventory control and manufacturing.
Conduct daily quality control audits across operations.
Ensure adequate corrective measures are implemented on a timely basis in cases of non-compliance.
Observe systems and processes and provide recommendations for improvements.
Identify and communicate key indicators of performance.
Assess and ensure we are maximizing value back to the company by performing regular checks and provide recommendations on improvement opportunities.
Other duties as requested or required.
Requirements:
Post secondary studies in forestry, wood science, or manufacturing is an asset.
At least one year of supervisor experience in a relative field or industry.
Three (3) years of experience in quality control inspections, or equivalent.
Broad business acumen.
Working knowledge of regulatory agency quality assurance/control activities
Strong English communication skills, both verbal and written
Receptive to change - can adapt to changing circumstances.
Proactive and focused on continuous improvement.
Working Conditions:
Occasional exposure to dust and fumes
Exposure to industrial noise, moving equipment, and overlapping work-zones.
Exposure to safety lockouts and access to equipment.
Requires frequent stooping/bending/crouching, reaching, handling, finger dexterity, sitting, standing, walking, and lifting 30 or more lbs.
Ability to hear, and talk, occasionally on radio in an industrial setting.
Occasional climbing and carrying.
Compensation Package:
Salary: 70,000.00 - 90,000.00
Schedule: Monday - Friday
