Position Summary



This co-op position will be responsible for assisting with routine analysis, improvement of analytical test procedures, supporting drug product manufacturing and characterization of nanoparticle formulations using variety of analytical methods to facilitate internal and collaborator projects and product development.



Areas of Responsibility




  • Perform routine preparation of various reagents, solutions and standards to be used for the testing conducted by the Quality Control group.

  • Conduct and assist with routine analysis of novel lipid nanoparticle formulations using a range of analytical instruments.

  • Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and conduct test methods (TMs) to evaluate the physical, chemical and stability properties of nanoparticle formulations.

  • Support development of novel lipid nanoparticle assays and impurities using the UPLC-CAD system.



  • Perform equipment calibration as required for GMP compliance.

  • Perform sampling of various raw materials and other components as required.

  • Maintain and replenish Quality Control supplies by ordering, and release of GMP materials for use in conjunction with Quality Assurance and Supply Chain departments.

  • Comply with Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) and maintain strict and accurate quality control documentation of all test procedures and results.

  • Prepare Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), reports and technical presentations.



  • Participate in the laboratory housekeeping tasks and ordering of laboratory supplies.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.




Qualifications and Experience




  • A degree (or currently enrolled in a Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s program) in Chemistry or Life Sciences discipline.

  • Previous work experience in a related laboratory environment or completion of at least one previous co-op assignment is an asset.

  • Good understanding in analytical assays, strong analytical and troubleshooting capability.

  • Good understanding of nanoparticles and polymer chemistry fundamentals is an asset.

  • Experience of techniques such as gel electrophoresis, particle sizing, familiarity of pipetting techniques, etc. is an asset.



  • Must be a resourceful, proactive, detail oriented individual.

  • The individual must be a team player who thrives in a dynamic environment with multiple tasks and aggressive deadlines.

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.

  • Be able to work with minimum supervision.
