Summary:

The Quality Assurance Manager is responsible for managing the facility\'s quality department, ensuring compliance with the Cannabis Act and regulations, and good production practices (GPP). The QA Manager reports to the COO and is a full-time permanent position based at our facility in British Columbia.

Responsibilities:

\xc2\xb7 Fulfill the role of the quality assurance person (QAP)

\xc2\xb7 Lead, manage and develop the quality team by providing training, coaching, and feedback.

\xc2\xb7 Responsible for cannabis production quality management systems, including ongoing monitoring and implementation.

\xc2\xb7 Ensure cannabis products (flower, vapes, and edibles) are produced, packaged, labeled, stored, sampled, and tested in accordance with Cannabis Regulations, GPP, and internal standard operating procedures (SOPs).

\xc2\xb7 Responsible for release and approval of cannabis intended for sale.

\xc2\xb7 Manage quality assurance training and assist in the development of training materials. Provide ongoing guidance and training to staff on SOPs and regulatory compliance.

\xc2\xb7 Responsible for creating and maintaining preventive control plans (PCPs) for edible and extract production.

\xc2\xb7 Creation and review of cannabis product labels and provincial case labels.

\xc2\xb7 Oversee compliance with sanitation, equipment, and pest control programs.

\xc2\xb7 Ensure all required information for new cannabis product notifications is compiled and accurate.

\xc2\xb7 Development, revision, and implementation of SOPs and batch records.

\xc2\xb7 Responsible for third-party lab testing of cannabis products, raw materials, and environmental samples, as well as retention samples onsite.

\xc2\xb7 Responsible for review of final product testing and development of final product specifications.

\xc2\xb7 Manage vendor approval and raw material specification programs.

\xc2\xb7 Manage deviation/incident and corrective and preventative action investigations.

\xc2\xb7 Responsible for investigating all product quality complaints and taking necessary action.

\xc2\xb7 Compile quantity inventory reports.

\xc2\xb7 Lead Health Canada inspections and audits.

\xc2\xb7 Maintain current knowledge of Cannabis Act and regulations.

Qualifications / Experience:

  • Bachelor of Science and/or technical diploma in biology, food science, or equivalent field.
  • Previous leadership experience in cannabis or a related industry.
  • A valid Health Canada security clearance.
  • Preference will be given to candidates who have previously been approved as a QAP.
  • 5+ years of Quality Assurance experience within a regulated environment (food, cannabis, pharmaceutical).
  • Experience with inventory reporting would be an asset.
  • Strong leadership skills and proven experience leading in a dynamic fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to convey the importance of QA and regulatory requirements to all stakeholders.
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • High level of integrity and work ethic.
