SUMMARY: The Purchasing Coordinator will be responsible for the purchasing and supply management of inventory and samples; GS1 data management; Canada customs clearances; inbound freight and logistics; product evaluations; and price list maintenance.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work to determine stock levels
  • Work closely with custom brokers, transport carriers and 3rd party warehouses to ensure the timely delivery of goods to our warehouses
  • Manage and replenish stock and sample inventory
  • Determine selling and contract pricing for buy-sell inventory
  • Build an excellent rapport and mutual business relationship with Suppliers
  • Preparation and receipt of all purchase orders
  • Ensure imported products meet all CFIA requirements
  • Assist with monthly physical inventory counts
  • Work with warehouse personnel to manage close to code product
The successful candidates must possess the following Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Have minimum 5 years working experience
  • Knowledge of food importing and inventory control a definite asset
  • Have extensive knowledge of importing food products into Canada
  • Have thorough understanding of distribution/supplier network
  • Have thorough knowledge of products being sold
  • Possess strong analytical and negotiating skills
  • Have excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Understand marketing and product merchandising concepts
  • Have strong organizational skills
  • Be results oriented and able to multi-task
  • Have a great attitude
  • Have ability to meet deadlines
