Robert Half has partnered with a leading manufacturer in North America to find talent for their purchasing team. Located in Kingston, ON, the Buyer will be responsible for strategic planning to ensure needs for materials are met, while maintaining cost efficiency for the plant. What you get to do every day:

• Evaluate requisitions and place orders within the supply chain, ensuring timely delivery to support production requirements

• Monitor inventory levels to ensure supplies are delivered and scheduled on time

• Work with vendors and suppliers to negotiate pricing, terms, and conditions and build relationships

• Manage cost reduction

• Work with suppliers to ensure supply chain efficiency is meeting the requirements of each department

• Provide advice to planning and production teams in the event of part shortages and ability to meet current demand for ongoing projects

• Process improvement, including finding ways to keep supply chain processes efficient and cost effective

Requirements:

• Bachelor\'s Degree in Supply Chain Management, Production/Operations Management, Purchasing and/or logistics

• 5 years experience in buying/purchasing preferably within a manufacturing environment

• Strong contract negotiation skills

• Experience using ERP systems

• Experience implementing inventory management systems

• Experience working with multiple departments to deliver production scheduling

• Excellent written and oral communication skills

• Ability to adapt and provide solutions for internal clients
