Red Deer Regional Hospital has an exciting opportunity for a Psychologist I to join its Adult Psychiatry team on Unit 34/36. To be successful in this position you must have experience working with the adult population, and knowledge and experience in formal psychological assessment and treatment approaches to stabilizing mental illnesses such as schizophrenia, depression, bi-polar disorder and personality disorders. You must be an active and supportive team member, highly motivated, have excellent communication, organization and report writing skills, and the ability to work independently. The Registered Psychologist will work collaboratively as a member of a multidisciplinary team providing psychological services during hospitalization of adults experiencing serious emotional, psychological, behavioral and/or psychiatric illness. Psychological services will include formal assessment, consultation, treatment, and treatment planning for adults in crisis. Red Deer is located in Central Alberta near the midpoint of the Calgary-Edmonton Corridor and is surrounded by Red Deer County. It is Alberta\'s third-most-populous city - after Calgary and Edmonton with just over 100,000 citizens. The Red Deer area has one of the fastest growing economies in North America and is consistently ranked as a prime location for doing business. Description:
As a Psychologist I, you will work with or within teams to provide a range of standard level psychology services to patients and their families within the established standards, directives, and policies for the work environment. Your services may include: psychological screening and/or assessment, diagnosis, interventions, rehabilitation, prevention and promotion, as well as education activities. You will collaborate with the multi-disciplinary team of healthcare professionals in planning and implementing services that align with best practice and ethical and professional standards. You will provide input to the interprofessional team related to psychological factors, barriers and dynamics that influence client treatment planning, participation, outcomes and team functioning, and consults/collaborates with teams and community services. Your duties may also include providing supervision to psychometrists, provisional psychologists and/or masters level psychology students, and providing input into program, policy and/or procedure development in addition to participating in formal research initiatives.
