The Youth Community Support Program is a cross-ministry initiative. It aims to provide a step-down service for youth and their families who are exiting acute inpatient mental health settings or formal treatment environments. This program is for youth 10-17 years of age. As part of this team, you will have a role in assisting children and adolescents reach their ultimate goal of healthy family reunification and successful independent living. These clients are continuously accessing hospital services with no stable resolution. The Psychologist I, provides direct client care through group facilitation and carrying a small caseload. The Psychologist I will provide system-based assessment and family therapy, case management, and co-ordination of therapeutic services for program clients and their families. This position will take a lead role in planning, developing, coordinating and implementing a robust group intervention model orienting, monitoring, evaluating and responding to outcomes. This Psychologist I is responsible for clinical assessments and associated services for YCSP clients. The Psychologist I schedules assessment, selects instruments, administers and interprets test scores according to interpretive guidelines, relevant research and accepted standards of professional practice. Reports assessment results in accordance with professional standards of practice. Collaborates with physician, interdisciplinary colleagues, clients and families in sharing assessment findings. The successful candidate can handle crisis & stressful situations in a calm facilitative manner. This position will work, days with some early evening work when facilitating groups and from time-to-time weekends to provide DBT phone coach to clients and caregivers.
Description:
As a Psychologist I, you will work with or within teams to provide a range of standard level psychology services to patients and their families within the established standards, directives, and policies for the work environment. Your services may include: psychological screening and/or assessment, diagnosis, interventions, rehabilitation, prevention and promotion, as well as education activities. You will collaborate with the multi-disciplinary team of healthcare professionals in planning and implementing services that align with best practice and ethical and professional standards. You will provide input to the interprofessional team related to psychological factors, barriers and dynamics that influence client treatment planning, participation, outcomes and team functioning, and consults/collaborates with teams and community services. Your duties may also include providing supervision to psychometrists, provisional psychologists and/or masters level psychology students, and providing input into program, policy and/or procedure development in addition to participating in formal research initiatives.
