Your Opportunity:

Alberta Hospital Edmonton (AHE) has a halftime permanent Psychologist I position in our Allied Health Services portfolio with a primary responsibility within our Adult Acute inpatient units providing individual and group psychotherapy for a wide spectrum of mental health concerns. Opportunities to contribute to psychological assessment and family education and support may also be available. All psychologists are members of the AHE Psychology Advisory Council that meets weekly to offer weekly professional peer support that meets all continuing competency requirements of the College of Alberta Psychologists. A Master's degree in psychology or counselling is a minimum basic requirement for this position, with preference given to candidates with formal clinical practicum.

Description:

As a Psychologist I, you will work with or within teams to provide a range of standard level psychology services to patients and their families within the established standards, directives, and policies for the work environment. Your services may include: psychological screening and/or assessment, diagnosis, interventions, rehabilitation, prevention and promotion, as well as education activities. You will collaborate with the multi-disciplinary team of healthcare professionals in planning and implementing services that align with best practice and ethical and professional standards. You will provide input to the interprofessional team related to psychological factors, barriers and dynamics that influence client treatment planning, participation, outcomes and team functioning, and consults/collaborates with teams and community services. Your duties may also include providing supervision to psychometrists, provisional psychologists and/or masters level psychology students, and providing input into program, policy and/or procedure development in addition to participating in formal research initiatives.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of master's degree in Psychology in an applied area relevant to the practice setting from an accredited university program. Active or eligible for registration with the College of Alberta Psychologists (CAP). Additional Required Qualifications:

2-3 years experience in an inpatient or community based Addiction & Mental Health service. Demonstrated interpersonal and organizational skills, ability to maintain effective working relationships with the interdisciplinary team. Demonstrated ability to adapt quickly based on the demand and patient needs. Demonstrated accountability, critical thinking, interpersonal and communication skills. BLS/CPR. Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with quality improvement initiatives in program enhancement and positive patient/client outcomes. Knowledge and experience with Connect Care. Nonviolent Crisis Intervention.
