*This position will provide support to all of Minto's product types (High-/Mid-/Low-Rise) with a focus on high-rise residential projects.

The Opportunity:

Reporting to the Senior Project Manager, Sustainability, the Project Manager, Sustainability manages the development of project sustainability strategies, including new product research, innovation and design implementation as per Business Plan, based on market conditions and to meet customer expectations and are aligned with our corporate brand. Project Manager, Sustainability manages sustainability consultants and liaises with internal and external stakeholders to drive customer value and ensure sustainability projects are delivered as per Business Plan. Project Manager, Sustainability works closely with Design Managers, Development Managers, and Construction Project Managers to support business sustainability objectives. Project Manager, Sustainability leads by example and actively promotes the Minto values of accomplishment, courage, partnership and innovation.

What you'll be responsible for day to day:

Project Management:

  • Manages the sustainable offering development process for new projects, and supports community and architectural design development process;
  • Manages the development and execution of comprehensive sustainability strategies based on market and regulatory trends;
  • Collaborates with Product Development peers to ensure cohesive and optimized value proposition is delivered to Minto customers on assigned projects;
  • Participate in design and construction meetings as needed to support the implementation of sustainability features and requirements into projects;
  • Develops, manages and reports on project budget and schedule;
  • Manages external consultants including for Energy modelling, Sustainability, and Renewable Energy, includes RFP, contract and invoicing processes with monthly budget reporting;
  • Performs reviews for adequate coordination between design drawings, marketing/sales collateral and contract documentation;
  • Performs reviews with internal stakeholders and construction sites to ensure project sustainability objectives are being achieved and to identify improvements and maximize benefit to customer;
  • Collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to ensure continuous improvement of product features, construction specification and detailing;
  • Manage certification processes, including consultant and internal team deliverables;
  • Performs new product and material research, innovation and design implementation on assigned low-rise, mid-rise, high-rise or mixed-use projects as per Business Plan, based on market research and to meet customer expectations;
  • Identifies and supports incentive management and reporting;
  • Supports acquisition, pro-forma (budget and schedule) and community development efforts;
  • Prepare and deliver training to design teams, construction, sales and MasterCare staff on items related to sustainability
  • Support corporate programs and reporting including waste management, air tightness, annual sustainability reporting and ESG reporting;
  • Performs other duties within the scope, spirit and purpose of the job, as requested by management.
Team Support:
  • Participates in feasibility studies and special projects as required;
  • Adheres to timesheet tracking and submission requirements;
  • Performs electronic and hard copy filing of project documentation as required.
Financial Accountability:
  • Co-ordinates and reports metrics;
  • Develops of cost effective alternatives to improve financial performance in all areas.
Management and Leadership:
  • Manages consultants through the procurement and production processes on the assigned projects;
  • Fosters collaboration and supports efforts within the department and between functional groups
  • Establishes, builds and maintains relationships with peers and trades.
Who we are looking for:

Education: College Diploma / University Degree in Engineering, Architecture, Building Science, Construction or Environmental Studies. A focus on sustainable business practices is preferred. LEED Green Associate or AP designation is an asset.

Experience: A minimum of five (7+) years of previous professional experience in Project Management related to sustainability, design development process and leading consultant teams. Hands on experience with managing a majority of the following programs TGS, LEED, ENERGY STAR, WELL, Fitwel required.

Specialized Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of the Ontario Building Code (OBC) and other relevant regulations;
  • Knowledge residential low-rise, mid-rise, high-rise or mixed use building systems/assemblies and construction methodologies;
  • Working experience with ENERGY STAR programs, LEED, WELL and Fitwel rating systems as well as municipal standards relevant to local geography (i.e. Toronto Green Standard);
  • Microsoft Office ;
  • Public speaking and presentation skills;
  • Knowledge of energy modeling software is an asset;
