SUMMARY OF POSITION (Limited Term till March 31, 2025) The Instructor/Career Counselor is responsible for assisting the Project Coordinator in executing key components of the project and delivery of customized training models designed to increase participants\xe2\x80\x99 employability. The course will focus on occupational specific knowledge and skills related to event coordination and management in the hospitality and tourism industry. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Conduct focus groups and individual assessments to determine the client\xe2\x80\x99s employment needs
Prepare a curriculum and associated lessons and deliver in-class group training for participants
Provide instructional expertise in English, occupational and essential skills learning
Track and report on clients\xe2\x80\x99 progress
Ensure participants\xe2\x80\x99 skills are strengthened in essential skills needed for job placement and/or retention
Develop and implement career planning and employment group sessions and training
Provide internal and external referrals to clients
Provide clients with accurate labour market information or instruct clients in labour market analysis
Assist clients with their job search, and help barriered clients complete job applications when appropriate
Ensure client skills are strengthened in resume and cover letter preparation, the conduct of job interviews, hidden job market access, job search techniques and strategies
Provide one-on-one support to clients and program graduates to review concepts covered in class
Maintain client\xe2\x80\x99s files and documentation and participate in project promotion, orientation, and client recruitment
Conduct client follow-up and assist with career counseling and job search support as required
Complete client data entry in CMS and funder databases
Assist with regular reporting to funders and to the department manager
When necessary, consult with the Project Coordinator and Department Manager on issues related to the program/participants
Attend and participate in CIWA events
Other duties as assigned by the Department Manager including requests for additional paid hours on a temporary basis when needed

QUALIFICATIONS
Post-secondary education in the area of Education, ESL Education for Adults, and/or Social Sciences
Experience in an ESL classroom environment
Knowledge and experience in career development/career counseling
Computer literacy and strong communication skills including writing skills
Knowledge of Calgary\xe2\x80\x99s labor force and market trends specifically events and hospitality related
Experience working with immigrants dealing with language barriers
Appreciation and knowledge of cultural diversity/experience working with an immigrant population
Highly motivated with a positive attitude and strong teamwork skills
A Career Development professional designation is an asset
