We are currently seeking a Program Manager, Equity, Inclusion, and Diversity to join our team.

The Program Manager, Equity, Inclusion, and Diversity participates in the development of First West\'s EID strategy and leads the implementation of activities that support EID strategy and culture programs. Partners with internal and external stakeholders such as Talent Attraction, HR Analysts, Compensation, Communications and Marketing, Employee Network Groups, and business leaders, external associations, consultants, and organizations to promote and infuse EID throughout First West\'s culture, corporate purpose, brand, policies, programs, and practices. Recommends and implements action to reduce inequality for equity-deserving groups and build understanding, awareness, and capability as an equitable, inclusive, and diverse organization.

Here\'s what would be included as a part of your typical day * Strategy Development and Implementation: Participates in the development and implementation of First West\'s EID strategy, to establish framework, priorities, goals, and metrics. Stays up to date on latest EID insights and provides input on the strategy and plans, conducts regular reviews and updates strategy as required. Communicates strategy and plans to stakeholders and partners as required (Board of Directors, Employee Network Groups, senior leadership including FWLT, Regional Presidents, Marketing and Communications). As an EID subject matter expert, collaborates with other Global HR partners, banks, and credit unions to support the implementation of strategies and the adoption of policies, practises, and behaviors that enable an inclusive workplace. Collaborates with Strategy and ESG teams to ensure alignment with both EID and ESG strategies.

  • Employment Equity: Develops and leads the implementation of all elements of First West\'s Employment Equity Plan and Employment Systems Reviews (ESR), including a multi-year Employment Equity Plan, and collaborates with People Services teams to ensure plans are executed and impact is measured and reported. Manages the accurate and timely submission of annual employment equity reporting (WEIMS). Manages the annual diversity survey process and works with HR Technology to effectively analyze the diversity survey data and report out to stakeholders. Measures, tracks, and analyzes the effectiveness of EID initiatives, reports progress, and recommends opportunities for priority areas of focus.
  • Training and Education: Develops and facilitates presentations, training sessions, and informational workshops to educate employees on employment equity, diversity, inclusion, belonging, and employee accessibility. Designs performance/KPI metrics, dashboards, and templates to improve organizational awareness around inclusion, diversity, and equity (e.g. unconscious bias awareness, allyship/bystander, cultural fluency, anti-racism, gender expression and identity, human rights training, etc.). Partners with other stakeholders to identify or create programs and resources that focus on increasing diversity and inclusion at all levels.
  • Employee Network Groups: Acts as the primary liaison for the Employee Network Groups to provide planning, guidance, and support as needed. May include determining budgets, seeking sponsors, promoting learning and development opportunities, supporting mentoring, and coordinating speakers and events.
  • Legislative Compliance: Subject matter expert on legislation related to EID impacting employees including the Employment Equity Act (EEA), Accessible Canada Act (ACA), Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) and related provincial, federal, and global legislation. Monitors the legal and regulatory environment, assessing implications and evolving compliance tactics accordingly. Supports the development, implementation, and regular review of corporate policies and programs to ensure compliance with relevant legislation
Required Skills, Experience & Qualifications
  • Bachelor\'s degree and demonstration of continuing education in the areas of Human Resources, Diversity Equity and Inclusion or Communications or a combination of relevant education and experience
  • Deep knowledge of and ability to interpret diversity, equity and inclusion legislation and regulations (EEA, ACA, AODA, etc.)
  • 6-7 years of broad experience in HR
  • Direct experience with employment equity and diversity program development
  • Experience in a large or complex federally regulated organization is an asset
  • Advanced interpersonal skills in consulting, presenting, relationship building, and influencing stakeholders at all levels towards shared ownership of EID
  • Demonstrated strategic thinking ability to translate and develop evidence-based strategy into actionable plans that drive cultural behavioral change to enable an inclusive environment in a high-performance work culture
  • Strength in problem solving, accelerating business change, and advancing continuous improvement as well as strong business acumen
  • Demonstrated ability to balance risk-taking with sound judgment
  • Advanced organizational and project management skills with a demonstrated ability to implement complex corporate change strategies in partnership with leadership across functions and meet deadlines
  • Ability to understand, analyze and utilize data (quantitative and qualitative) from multiple sources to accurately diagnose key issues and generate insights
  • Solid research and analytical skills to assess and recommend course of action based on industry best practices to identify risk and opportunity.
  • Advanced PC literacy with demonstrated MS office experience using a wide range of MS applications (Word, Excel), and experience in survey design
  • Enhanced oral and written communication skills
  • Proven conflict management and negotiation skills
  • Overnight travel may be occasionally required, up to 6 times per year
  • Displays an understanding of risk and risk ownership by being able to demonstrate adherence to policies and procedures.
