Job Description


The Office of Commercialization and Industry Engagement (OCIE) is the principle industry engagement and commercialization arm for Dalhousie University and is charged with evaluating, protecting, managing, marketing, developing, and commercializing inventions that have been assigned to the University by faculty, students, and staff. Reporting to the Managing Director, Industry Engagement and Customer Experience, the Program Coordinator will act as the primary point of contact between key funding agencies and Dalhousie research teams. The incumbent will work to increase industry-university interaction and value for industry sponsored research, support the maximization of opportunities for researchers to interact with new and existing industry partners, support the commercialization of technologies for the benefit of the inventors, and collaborate to maximize the economic value from the commercialization of technology and inventions at Dalhousie and beyond.
Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the main point of contact between Dalhousie research teams and funding programs, including but not limited to NRC-IRAP Science and Technology Assistant Program (S&TAP), Invest Nova Scotia Voucher Program, Invest Nova Scotia ESCF Awards etc.
  • Engage with companies and research teams to educate stakeholders in the programs available, requiring constant learning and development to maintain up to date information.
  • Effectively manage conflict with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Manage and direct the execution of various industry related agreements, working closely with the Associate Legal Counsel.
  • Under direction from senior leadership at OCIE, engage in strategic project management to implement key business enhancements to increase customer engagement and satisfaction.
  • Assist in preparing reports related to unit metrics and responding to surveys.
NoteThe successful applicant will be eligible for hybrid work (combination of in-person work on campus and remote work) as agreed by all parties based on operational requirements and university guidelines.Required Qualifications
  • Undergraduate\'s degree in business, or other related area plus five years\' experience in a related field (or equivalent combination of training and experience).
  • Ability to use tact and diplomacy to build and maintain strong relationships with researchers, industry partners, funding agencies.
  • Strong time management skills, adaptability and flexibility are required to adapt to multiple changing priorities and short deadlines.

  • Experience in STEM/ technology-related fields.
