As stewards of the province's financial affairs, we deliver a wide range of corporate fiscal and management services - including the preparation of the provincial budget, forecast updates, and financial advice to departments, crown corporations and other public service entities.About Our OpportunityAs the Program Administration Officer 3 you will be responsible for providing advice and assistance on financial matters relating to the various program areas within the Financial Services Unit and external agencies.Primary AccountabilitiesSome of the primary accountabilities of the role will include:Serving as the primary day-to-day contact on financial matters supporting the department's corporate divisions. You will provide financial advice on expenditures, vendor payments and budget pressures.Controlling, monitoring, and managing expenditures, and spending forecasts for both operating and capital budgets, ensuring commitments remain within budget while providing recommendations relative to the variances.Assisting in reviewing and managing ministerial approvals from a financial standpoint, including analyzing financial implications, conducting costing analysis and calculations.Assisting in the enhancement of new systems and procedures to organize and coordinate the collection of financial information.Assisting internal and external auditors with requests and year-end audit requirements, including funding details for grants.In this role, you will work directly with the Manager of Finance.Qualifications and ExperienceThis may be the right opportunity for you if you have a bachelor's degree with 5 years' related experience or an equivalent combination of training and experience.You have knowledge of Public Sector Accounting Standards and other relevant accounting standards.You have previous experience providing counsel to clients on financial, accounting, and reporting issues in the context of generally accepted accounting principles, legislation, and policy. You have a demonstrated ability to critically examine financial statements and perform operational/program reviews.
