About the Opportunity
Our client, a national leader in
industrial production and distribution
, is seeking an experienced
Production Manager
to lead operations at their busy
Calgary manufacturing terminal
. This role is responsible for overseeing all aspects of production--ensuring safe, efficient, and cost-effective operations across manufacturing, maintenance, logistics, and quality control.
The Production Manager will lead a skilled team, implement operational best practices, drive continuous improvement initiatives, and maintain the highest standards of safety and product quality. The position also oversees associated storage and distribution facilities within the surrounding area.
Key Responsibilities
Production & Operations Management:
Lead daily plant operations to meet production schedules, quality standards, and customer requirements.
Manage and optimize manufacturing processes, resource planning, and equipment utilization.
Conduct daily production meetings, resolve bottlenecks, and drive efficiency improvements.
Oversee quality control systems, ensuring adherence to product specifications and safety regulations.
Maintain housekeeping, safety, and environmental compliance across all work areas.
Coordinate logistics for raw materials, finished goods, and distribution schedules.
Monitor critical spares, inventory, and preventive maintenance programs to minimize downtime.
Collaborate closely with the quality assurance and maintenance teams to ensure smooth operations and cost control.
Assist in preparing and managing the annual operating budget and capital projects.
Leadership & People Management:
Supervise and develop production and maintenance teams to achieve performance goals.
Provide ongoing health and safety training to ensure compliance with company and regulatory standards.
Conduct performance evaluations, coach team members, and foster a culture of accountability and collaboration.
Ensure appropriate staffing levels and support employee engagement and retention initiatives.
Qualifications
Technical degree or diploma in
Engineering, Operations Management, or Industrial Technology
.
3-5 years of experience
in a
manufacturing, processing, or industrial production environment
, ideally in a supervisory or management capacity.
Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills with a hands-on management style.
Proficiency in
Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Project, Access)
; experience with
JD Edwards (JDE)
or other ERP systems is an asset.
Proven ability to
analyze and troubleshoot production issues
and implement process improvements.
Alternatively, candidates with a
3rd or 4th Class Power Engineer certification
and demonstrated leadership experience are strongly encouraged to apply.
