Job Overview

The Product Specialist, Drilling Retrofits will be part of a global Komatsu product team designated to the growth and support of the underground hard rock business. Specifically this position will travel globally to support the Komatsu underground drilling equipment distributors and customers with drilling systems and retrofits (Montabert conversions, Timberock feed and bolting heads, Jenmar resin injections systems and Komatsu drilling controls). This is an exciting opportunity for someone with underground drilling maintenance and repair experience that wants to progress their career and product knowledge in the drilling and bolting space and work with the original equipment manufacturer to become a global expert in underground drilling. The location for this position is remote based within Ontario, Canada or the Western United States.

Key Job Responsibilities
  • Lead Drilling Conversions (Montabert Drifters, Timberock Feed and Bolting heads, Jenmar Resin Injection Systems and Komatsu drilling controls) with Komatsu distributors and customers.
  • Conduct market research, competitive intelligence efforts to ensure market-driven product direction is achieved.
  • Maintain & establish relationships with new and existing customers (End user & KMC service regions) to educate and promote product lines and services.
  • Liaise with technical product support, engineering personnel and Account Managers. Advise Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing and Purchasing departments of technical issues, potential solutions or product enhancements to mitigate negative impact and protect or grow the overall business.
  • In future support rebuilds and repairs of drill rigs (jumbos, shaft equipment, etc.) through planning, training, program development as required.
  • Provide Field Sales Support and Field Technical Support
  • Lead the update and maintenance of both our product sales and technical presentations at the product level for conversions.
  • Update and maintain accuracy to reflect product designs and offering.
Qualifications/Requirements
  • Diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology or Mechanical trade is required.
  • 5-10 years of experience working with drill technologies and strong hydraulic knowledge is required.
  • Direct mining/equipment application experience with similar equipment is required.
  • Knowledge of the drilling market in mining operations is desired.
  • Must have excellent communication and public speaking skills with an ability to demonstrate confidence in material knowledge and convey product information to a broad audience with varying levels of product capability.
  • Technical aptitude and experience with market analysis, sales upselling, sales forecasting is desired.
  • Strong computer skills with ability to prepare data metrics, sales presentations, training materials.
  • Ability to travel globally to customer sites and Komatsu Mining sales and distributor offices.
  • Valid passport and driver\'s license.
  • Ability to work underground as required.
