Alcon Canada\xe2\x80\x99s Surgical Team is looking for an IOL Product Specialist. This role partners with Surgical Account Managers and implements, from a clinical and technical perspective, launch initiatives related to approved new products, to be marketed and sold into major institutions, surgicenters and new medical centers. The Product Specialists are a support role in the business relation with accounts and surgeons, with an emphasis placed on Clinical / Technical products (esp. IOLs), training to Physicians, nurses & technicians. IOL Product Specialists are primarily responsible for their regional sales targets but has secondary responsibility to contributing towards the National target.

This role is key in delivering post-launch presentations of new products and taking active initiatives in the support process of Refractive IOL\xe2\x80\x99s and post sales service / training to customers. The Product Specialist will also take an active role in specific new products, including, but not limited to IOL\xe2\x80\x99s, ATIOL\xe2\x80\x99s, Argos, and Verion. Takes part in ophthalmic consultations by training technicians and nurses and shares practice management experience. Communicates knowledge of optical properties such as biometry/power calculations for IOL\xe2\x80\x99s selection, refractive cataract techniques IOL Lens implantation techniques, cataract-refractive procedures, and surgical techniques. The IOL Specialists, through their expertise and commitment, is a key contribution to Alcon perception in the eyes of the customers. You will also be responsible for effective expenditure of company resources & money, and productive utilization of time.

This role will be supporting our territories in Saskatchewan and Manitoba.

As an IOL Product Specialist, you will:

Take the lead, along with support from the local AM\xe2\x80\x99s, to define regional sales / account targets, monitor KPI\xe2\x80\x99s and provide summary of results to Associate Sales Director and National Sales Director.

Deliver new approved products\xe2\x80\x99 presentations after launch, to ensure education and knowledge of customers.

Educate and train physicians, clinical personnel, including OR staff on Alcon ATIOL / Base lenses and diagnostic capital to ensure a successful outcome for the patient. Answer a wide range of question concerning applications, as well as clinical technique related to ATIOL / base lens implants and diagnostic capital. Provide ongoing support on patient selection, biometry calculation, keratometry, IOL selection and reimbursement.

Demonstrate clinical competence and product knowledge to customers (Physicians, Nurses, Technicians) during each presentation and irrespective of existing or non-existing relation, fostering perception of Alcon\xe2\x80\x99s excellence in the surgical field.

Support perception of Alcon\xe2\x80\x99s products (IOLs and new products) as top of line, helping customer understand a product\xe2\x80\x99s benefits from a clinical as well as from a business perspective, via targeted account planning.

Support Account Managers Business plan execution through excellent presentations and identification of further training and support needs in customers.

Completion of all administrative tasks in a timely manner including (but not limited to) CRM completion.

Liaising with AMs and under the supervision of ASD\xe2\x80\x99s/Assoc Dir of Marketing, IOL PS will assist 20-25 key targets accounts in maximizing their business potential through practice development initiatives and clinical expertise, resulting in increased sales of the Alcon Intraocular Lens Products and related diagnostic equipment.

Provides Practice development services to help target accounts prepare for successful adoption of Alcon Refractive IOL / Diagnostic technologies. These include customer service audits, operational efficiency / scheduling reviews, strategic planning and internal / external marketing and communication.

WHAT YOU\xe2\x80\x99LL BRING TO ALCON

Education Minimum: Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s Degree or Equivalent years of directly related experience (or high school +13 yrs; Assoc.+9 yrs; M.S.+2 yrs; PhD+0 yrs) The ability to fluently read, write, understand and communicate in English

Preferred: Bachelor of Science/Commerce

Experience Minimum: 3 years of Pharmaceutical, Medical, or Surgical sales experience

Preferred Experience: 3-5 years of selling experience in Surgical Ophthalmic sales

Advanced written and verbal communication skills

Independent, creative, and innovative thinker who thrives on selling in a consultative selling environment.

Able to quickly build confidence in customers despite not having long-term relationship as the key group (surgeons) having very high expectations. Low tolerance for mistakes (small customer base).

Advanced presentation skills

Strong knowledge in diagnostic tests and cataract procedure

Advanced optic skills (Optical function of the Eye) and ophthalmic surgery expertise.

Travel Requirements:

Travel Requirement: up to 50% travel within territory, national and international conferences (weekends and evenings required)
