The Product Manager for the Job Architecture workstream, is a new addition to the HR Systems team and will be a key contributor to our HR System Modernization program formed to lead Sun Life\'s HR technology transformation efforts. We are at a pivotal moment as we improve our existing HR technology infrastructure while shifting to a strengthened ecosystem of applications that supports the overall employee experience and future ways of working.\xe2\x80\x8b\xe2\x80\x8b

The mandate of the Job Architecture workstream is to modernize and enhance the implementation of job architecture and the job catalogue within our global processes and our Workday system to allow for clear definition of work to be done when designing roles, translation of work and tasks into required skills, knowledge, and behaviors, and in conjunction with Finance, effectively manage our workforce.

As a key member of the Global HR team, you will work in close partnership with a variety of HR subject matter experts and Centers of Excellence both within and outside of HR.

What will you do?

As the workstream\xe2\x80\x99s primary source for scope definition and priority, you will engage with the stakeholders to fully understand the problem definition and intended outcomes. You are outward focused and serve as the primary source of external information for a team that consists of a project manager, a process design analyst, technical analysts and subject matter experts, as required. You are responsible for specific business OKRs based on the team\xe2\x80\x99s strategic vision and roadmap.

Requirements Articulation and Goal Alignment:

Translate product directives into backlog items, effectively advocating for customer needs

Offer clear definitions of the targeted capability - the intended value to the customer, and functional/non-functional requirements framing the scope of the capability, independent of implementation

Author, refine and approve backlog items, with clearly articulated acceptance criteria

Manage backlog contents and priority, ensuring sufficient depth of groomed items for development consumption and commitment

Accountable for ensuring that the intended product behavior and user experience is understood in sufficient detail for downstream activities

Lead the practice of design thinking and process optimization

Product Development:

Apply incremental delivery principles to working practices, driving the delivery of value, communicating progress, eliciting feedback and enabling stakeholder reviews for validation in the process

Play a leadership role in the team to ensure that capabilities are in-scope, on-time and of high quality

Participate in all team ceremonies including stand-ups, planning, review, and retrospectives

Work with stakeholder and project manager to plan operational and project work timelines and resource allocations

Work closely with the team on implementation issues

Be the final authority regarding completion

Stakeholder Relationship Management:

Effectively communicate product release contents and expected product capabilities/behavior to stakeholders including Customers, Product Management, Support and Services, Development and Marketing

Manage HR Technology relationships with multiple HR client groups and work with these groups to create, refine and implement multi-year product roadmap

Support the investigation of new and existing Workday functionality and the investigation of net new technology offerings against workstream roadmap

Educate HR areas on available system enhancements and work with other HR technology partners to propose possible solutions and refinements to data or business processes as they apply to the product roadmap

Facilitate end to end HR process reviews and advise on process refinements as they relate to HR technology

Contribute to discussions around possible process changes outside of the system as it relates to the interaction between manual and system-based processing

Navigate within the Workday service delivery model to request enhancements, assess updates, log and manage resolution of errors and participate in constructive vendor dialogue on product enhancements

What do you need to succeed?

Experience and aptitude in translating HR programs into technical features

Experience and aptitude with HRMS / HRIS / HCM products, Workday preferred

Curiosity & drive to learn

Initiative and self-confidence, adaptable and able to cope with changing and evolving priorities while being able to identify new opportunities

Prefers working in a highly collaborative environment

Practical client management experience - able to quickly earn the trust of key stakeholders - set direction and approach, resolve conflict, deliver tough messages with grace and execute with limited information and ambiguity, and challenge the status quo respectfully

Ability to navigate the organization at a senior level

Preferred:

Experience managing a global client group

Understanding of Agile methodologies (preferably Scrum) and knowledge of the full project life cycle

Familiarity with JIRA

Experience in a LEAN or 6 Sigma environment

6-10 years of experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Understanding of design thinking principles and practices, practical experience preferred

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors. In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance. Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
