As our Manager of Human Resources, you will be responsible for overseeing all functions of the HR department, with a strong focus on enhancing the employee experience at Sandbox. Your expertise will assist in guiding HR strategy and provide ongoing support to improve engagement, retain top talent, and positively influence business outcomes. In this role, you will collaborate closely with management to shape corporate strategy and future planning, while driving initiatives that prioritize a culture of inclusion, recognition, and growth. You will play a critical role in fostering an environment where employees feel valued, supported, and empowered, ultimately making a real difference in the lives of Sandbox employees

As part of the management team, you will provide leadership coaching, direction to staff, and ensure the employee experience is at the forefront of our HR practices. DIVE IN AND MAKE A SPLASH EVERY DAY, BY:

Plunging into providing clear leadership and direction; manages the operations of the human resources and payroll and benefits area monitoring key performance metrics.

Enhances the company's human resources by planning, implementing, and evaluating employee relations and human resources policies, programs and practices.

Enforces management guidelines by preparing, maintaining, recommending and ensuring compliance with human resource policies and procedures. Advises other management on interpretation and administration of human resource policies and procedures.

Establishes a recruitment, assessment and interview program; coaching managers on candidate selection; conducting and analyzing exit interviews; and recommending changes.

Manages compensation by conducting periodic salary surveys; scheduling and conducting job evaluations; monitoring and scheduling individual pay actions; and recommending, planning, and implementing pay structure revisions.

Implements employee benefits programs by studying and assessing benefit needs and trends; recommending benefit programs to the VP, Human Resources; directing the processing of benefit claims; and designing and conducting education programs on benefit programs.

Manages labour relations issues including grievance/dispute resolution, interpretation and application of the collective bargaining agreement (CBA) and all disciplinary matters. Participates in collective bargaining with the Union.

Manages human resource staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training new employees.

Perform other duties as required.

WHAT YOU BRING TO SANDBOX:

Education: A post secondary degree or diploma from a recognized business course with a concentration in human resources.

Experience Counts: Minimum five (5) years human resources experience; three (3) or more years managing in a unionized workplace

HR Wizard: Managerial skills including interviewing and selecting employees, providing constructive feedback, motivating, conducting performance reviews, and training and development.

Master Project Planner: Proven ability to handle multiple tasks and make decisions in a rapidly changing environment. Able to set priorities for self and overall department by creating a focus, eliminating roadblocks and knowing what will help or hinder goal accomplishment. Manages project deadlines and assigns work based on employees' abilities and competence.

Detail Detective: Ability to visualize, articulate, conceptualize, or solve problems by making decisions that are logical and reasonable given the available information.

People Person: Practices a 'hands-on' approach when directing employees, empowers employees to be successful through training, developing, and coaching. Holds people accountable by ensuring they meet individual and organizational objectives in an appropriate manner. Monitors employee development plans and ensures alignment with department and company goals.
