Full-Time Permanent, Toronto, ON

CNIB invites you to build a career as unique as you! We are currently searching for a Producer, Audio Publishing! Reporting to the Manager, Audio Publishing and Business Development, the Producer, Audio Publishing is responsible for the production of digital audio transcriptions of print books and materials to accessible and commercial standards.

Responsibilities also may include directing and advising Studio volunteers, contractors, and remote recorders in the production process.

Your impact at CNIB

  • Under the direction of the department Manager, Audio Publishing, direct and support the Recording Studio in the production of digital audio recordings. Responsibilities may include scheduling, training, planning, assessment and development, post-production, and work assignments.
  • Responsible for training volunteers and contractors and assisting with procedures and technology.
  • Responsible for assisting remote recorders with set-up of equipment to meet department standards, as well as providing training and support, as needed.
  • Respond to volunteer questions and provide direction and guidance ensuring that volunteer output meets the required standard.
  • Assist in the development and delivery of training programs for volunteers, contractors and remote recorders and provide ongoing support for them.
  • Provide narration and technical support as required.
  • Maintain relationships with other department units within Beyond Print, CNIB and external vendors to meet goals and facilitate the end-to-end production process.
Requirements

Who you are
  • Well-developed English language capabilities and a pleasant professional-sounding reading voice; knowledge of French or other languages is a definite asset.
  • Acute hearing and artistic sense for audio presentation of spoken word recordings.
  • Knowledge of DAISY (Digital Accessible Information System) standards and recording and production tools is an asset.
  • Approachable, good relationship builder and able to work with participants with limited experience creating DAISY and commercial audiobooks.
  • Proven time management and organization skills; amenable to changing priorities, deadlines, and procedures.
  • Excellent analytical, problem definition and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to multi-task in an organized manner.
  • Professional attitude, results oriented, accountable, self-motivated, and flexible.
  • Strong interpersonal, diplomacy, written and spoken communication skills.
We want to hear from you if you have:
  • Minimum post-secondary degree in Arts and Sciences or equivalent education in a relevant discipline.
  • Minimum 2 years' experience with digital audio recording and editing software.
  • Understanding of structured text and principles of mark-up.
  • Previous experience in audio production or voice-work a definite asset.
  • Excellent computer skills required.
  • Previous teaching and/or training experience a strong asset.
  • Working in a volunteer environment or as a volunteer is an asset.
  • Able to work remotely or on-site as part of a team focused on same goals.
  • Personal or professional experience relating to blindness and sight loss is considered an asset.
  • Personal or professional experience working with assistive technology and/or accessible environments is considered an asset.
