CNIB invites you to build a career as unique as you! We are currently searching for a Studio Supervisor, Audio Publishing! Reporting to the Director, Beyond Print, the Studio Supervisor oversees production operations and develops commercial business with publishers and organizations for Montreal Audio Publishing. The Studio Supervisor manages 3-4 direct reports.

Responsibilities include verifying output goals, production standards, and scheduling, networking with organizations and publishers, and taking sales calls and giving presentations for business development.

General Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and manage Studio staff; establish solid working relationship based on clear and continuing communications.
  • Help with recruitment, casting, and hiring of studio volunteers and UDA/ACTRA union performers.
  • Supervise production process, and assign work to studio staff.
  • Establish continuous process improvement, optimize current tools and technologies; implement new technologies as they are introduced, and, in consultation with the Director, Beyond Print and the other staff members within the unit.
  • Meet with publishers about audiobook production and consultation services, present to industry and membership organizations, and attend events to network with the industry and to grow commercial business.
  • Prepare and remit monthly production reports and other reports as necessary.
  • Prepare invoices for processing through CNIB's Finance department.
Relationships
  • Liaise and build relationships with staff both locally and nationally to align workflow appropriately and ensure department goals and objectives are met.
  • Network and maintain relationships with external stakeholders including clients, volunteers, government agencies, unions, the private and public sector.
  • Form and sustain relationships with publishers, publishing organizations, and other organizations with an interest in audiobook publishing and consulting for business development purposes.
Leadership
  • Facilitate and enhance team efforts on a professional level and share specialized knowledge, sources, experience, concepts, and skills.
  • Take initiative to keep abreast of ongoing and new information in accessible publishing.
  • Maintain a positive attitude, provide leadership, and remain focused on organizational goals.
Requirements

Who you are
  • Well-developed French language capabilities; well-developed English language is also required for communication with internal and external partners; knowledge of other languages is a definite asset.
  • Acute hearing and artistic sense for audio presentation of spoken word recordings.
  • Knowledge of digital production tools, particularly those related to accessible reading, is an asset.
  • Proven time management and organization skills; amenable to changing priorities, deadlines and procedures.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to multi-task in an organized manner; able to direct the work of others.
  • Approachable, good relationship builder, and able to network with a variety of stakeholders.
  • Strong communication, management, mentoring, interpersonal and diplomacy skills.
  • Professional attitude, results oriented, intellectually curious, self-motivated, creative and flexible.
We want to hear from you if you have:
  • Minimum post-secondary degree in Arts and Sciences or equivalent work experience in a related field.
  • Suitable experience in supervisory role in related work environment
  • Previous work experience in a production environment, specifically in spoken word audio, markup, and/or volunteer management sectors.
  • Experience in business development and/or customer service.
  • Experience in digital audio mastering, hardware, and software an asset.
  • Understanding of DAISY Standards and Specifications, and knowledge of structured text an asset.
  • Proficient computer skills in a Windows environment.
