Position Summary
In this role, you'll be responsible for stocking, rotating, and merchandising produce to maintain the high standards our customers expect. A strong knowledge of produce -- from seasonal availability to ripeness and storage -- is highly preferred, as you'll be assisting customers and ensuring every item on the shelf meets our quality promise. We are passionate about offering the freshest, best-quality fruits and vegetables, and we're looking for someone who shares that commitment. Job Structure
This is a full-time, hourly wage position. Work schedule includes weekends and holidays as required. Paid vacation accrual at 4%. Health insurance plan is included and life insurance benefits are available after 6 months of full-time employment.
Responsibilities
Department Opening & Daily Operations
Assist with opening procedures for the produce department, including unloading and prepping product, checking quality, and setting up displays.
Ensure the department is clean, organized, and fully stocked before store opening.
Stocking & Merchandising
Unpack, stock, and rotate produce with careful attention to freshness and presentation.
Maintain well-organized, attractive displays that reflect seasonal availability and store standards.
Monitor product quality throughout the day, removing and recording spoiled or damaged items.
Customer Service
Engage with customers in a friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable manner.
Answer questions related to produce selection, storage, ripeness, and preparation.
Share product knowledge, including seasonal and local offerings.
Teamwork & Communication
Work collaboratively with the produce team and management to ensure smooth operations.
Communicate inventory needs, quality concerns, and customer feedback clearly and professionally.
Cleanliness & Safety
Maintain cleanliness and food safety standards in all work areas.
Follow store procedures for food handling, labeling, and waste management.
Assist with receiving and organizing deliveries.
Qualifications
Previous experience in a produce or grocery environment is preferred.
Strong product knowledge and interest in fruits and vegetables is a strong asset.
Ability to identify produce and assess freshness/quality.
Strong attention to detail, organization, and time management skills.
Positive, customer-focused attitude and excellent communication skills.
Must be physically able to lift up to 50 lbs and work on your feet for extended periods.
Availability to work early mornings, weekends, and holidays as required.
Please note, the shift for this role starts at 6AM. Early morning availability is required.
