Your Opportunity In your role as a Process Engineer Co-op, you will support our fast-growing industrial practice meeting the water supply and treatment needs for our clients in Mining, Pulp & Paper, Food & Beverage, Power, Energy, and Manufacturing. You will be located in our Dartmouth, Nova Scotia or Fredericton, New Brunswick offices and work with brilliant specialists from across our North American operations. Our perfect candidate will have prior co-op experience as a process engineer-in-training working in an industrial production setting with industrial water experience. This role will require a balance of learning about the wide range of water applications in industry including treatment for production users, treatment for wastewater discharges, energy relationships with water, and more. The eligible candidate will work with a local team of Process Engineers while supporting the global industrial water project base at Stantec. Your Key Responsibilities

  • Consistently demonstrate a commitment to the Health and Safety culture within Stantec
  • Participate in conceptual design basis reports, engineering assessments, data analysis and design calculations
  • Participate in the preparation of PFDs, P&IDs and design basis reports
  • Participate in industrial water study calculations and report preparations
  • Participate in the preparation of construction specifications, tender documents, and applications for approvals to regulators on behalf of clients
  • Create water and mass/energy balances.
  • Maintain positive relationships with clients, vendors, consultants, and regulators as needed always using a professional communications approach
  • Conduct occasional site visits to support proposals, project development, or business development
Qualifications Your Capabilities and Credentials
  • A developing grasp and/or interest in learning about water/wastewater treatment engineering design technologies and water/wastewater characterization (industrial)
  • A developing grasp and/interest in industrial water needs and wastewater sources, including internal service water, boilers, and cooling water.
  • A developing grasp and/interest in the phases of project delivery, client procurement procedures, and typical industrial water regulatory approval processes
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work to meet multiple deadlines
  • Works in a team environment without direct supervision
  • Proficient writer and communicator
  • Proficient in Microsoft (MS) Office Suite and Adobe
  • Experience with process simulation modelling is considered an asset (hydraulic modelling, BioWin, Aspen Suite of Products \xe2\x80\x93 HYSYS, OLI, etc.)
  • Experience with electronic drawing preparation considered an assess (Visio, CAD/BIM, etc.)
  • Holds a valid drivers\xe2\x80\x99 licence
Education and Experience
  • Enrolled in a Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s Program of Engineering or Sciences majoring in Chemical Engineering from an accredited institution
  • Prior co-op job placement experience preferred
