The
Primary Worker
plays a key role in supporting pregnant and parenting women within Hope House's 24/7 supportive housing program. Working in a small residential setting (5 mothers and their infants), this position involves case management, daily support, and implementation of structured programming. Staff work a rotating 24-hour shift (including an 8-hour sleep period), followed by three days off.
You will work directly with clients who may face complex life challenges, supporting them in strengthening personal well-being, parenting confidence, and life skills. Strong interpersonal skills, a trauma-informed approach, and a commitment to infant mental health are essential.
Qualifications
Diploma or degree in Social Work, Human Services, Mental Health, or related field; or minimum 3 years of related experience
CPR/First Aid, NVCI, and ASIST training preferred
Experience supporting at-risk populations and/or working in residential settings is required.
Understanding of the mother-child bond and its impact on infant mental health is required.
Strong teamwork and communication skills
Physical ability to support daily parenting routines (e.g., lifting infants, household tasks)
Key Responsibilities
Client Support & Programming
Provide a safe, structured, and supportive environment for mothers and infants
Support up to 5 clients with personalized case management
Promote personal well-being, parenting capacity, and stability through strengths-based interventions
Assist clients in accessing community services and attending appointments
Facilitate new resident orientation and ensure consistent adherence to program expectations
Communication & Documentation
Participate in regular shift handovers and internal/external meetings
Maintain up-to-date, accurate documentation and reports
Respond promptly to safety concerns, incidents, or emergencies
Report all serious occurrences to the Manager or on-call staff
Home Management & Safety
Ensure a clean, welcoming, and orderly home environment
Complete evening security checks and monitor client areas appropriately
Protect confidentiality of all client information and agency files
Maintain respectful boundaries between staff, clients, and property
Team & Organizational Engagement
Build strong working relationships with coworkers and community partners
Participate in staff meetings and ongoing training
Represent Hope House with professionalism in all internal and external interactions
Support the mission and values of Hope House in all duties
Adhere to all agency policies and procedures
