Job Profile Description

As a key member of Manulife's Global Wealth and Asset Management (GWAM) Finance Team, the Senior Pricing Analyst will be heavily involved in supporting the US Retirement pricing management.

This role will play a critical function in achieving organizational financial and pricing objectives via supporting sales and retention goals. This role will operate as a key strategic advisor with decision making authorities to the Sales teams, Strategic Relationship Management (SRM) teams and Pricing leadership to help win and retain business. The candidate will be empowered to foster relationships with customer facing roles to drive business outcomes.

The role conducts both qualitative and quantitative internal data analysis, financial reporting, and external market studies, supports internal customer needs, helps to guide pricing strategy, and conduct business process analysis to improve pricing operations and management. This includes financial analytics and reporting that relate to pricing and underwriting of new and existing clients as well as analytics relating to competition.

Pricing Analyst will be required to demonstrate and develop leadership, coaching and consultative skills by living the Manulife values. Additionally have sound technical skills including working with large data sets and expertise with the MS Office Suite. Individual Accountabilities:

  • Collaborate and consult with the Internal & External Sales organization and Strategic Relationship Management (SRM) teams along with other internal departments on pre-sale pricing exercises, repricing situations, and client retention efforts across all retirement products.
  • Monitoring and identification of plan profitability opportunities, working with the broader business, including sales and relationship management, to improve client and business financials.
  • Ability to deliver sophisticated pricing analytics, pricing model analysis, profitability analysis, market analysis, business risk analysis and implementation of final fees.
  • Ability to apply existing models to aggregate and manipulate large & sophisticated data sets from multiple sources/formats, which in turn, drive automated internal and external reporting.
  • The incumbent strives to build on prior experiences to further develop strong data analytical skills and answer sophisticated questions and needs with data and reporting.
  • Analyze financial and pricing information in relation to our overall business strategy to help resolve any related financial risks to the organization.
  • Ownership of risk management and risk mitigation through the rigorous development of controls, procedures, training, and analysis.
  • Represent the Pricing Team as a subject matter authority (SME) for assigned projects and pricing related matters.
  • Host periodic training sessions for field support, new hires and when pricing updates occur throughout the year.
  • Ability to explain sophisticated analytics and pricing strategy to non-financial internal customers and teams in a simple and important manner.

Qualifications
  • 5 years of proven experience within the financial services industry and pricing experience.
  • Preferred 3 years of experience within the defined contribution and/or defined benefit industry.
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Mathematics, Statistics, or business-related field.
  • Sophisticated knowledge and thorough experience with Excel, PowerPoint, Word, SQL, Access and PowerBI.
  • Experience with financial reporting, pricing, underwriting or risk analysis, and marketplace analytics.
  • Meticulous, well-organized, and excellent analytical, communication, presentation, written and oral skills.
  • Self-starter and teammate with a high level of initiative, strong work ethic and the ability to capture, synthesize, organize, and report information.
  • Ability to multi-task and handle priorities in a demanding and deadline-oriented environment.
  • Proactive critical thinking and willingness to innovate and question the status quo.
  • Proven organizational, time management and prioritization skills to meet strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Exceptional work ethic, positive demeanour, eagerness to learn and tackle new responsibilities.
