Postdoctoral Fellow
Primary Purpose: To pursue research in the field of corporate finance, including the role of social norms and board diversity on firm performance.
Nature of Work: The successful candidate will contribute to the development of the supervisor\'s SSHRC-funded project and further projects arising therefrom. The duties include, but are not limited to, collecting and analyzing data, designing econometric methods, and manuscript preparation. As a part of the funding package, the candidate is expected to teach one undergraduate course in finance over a 12-month period.
Accountabilities: Over the 12-month appointment, the candidate is expected to have completed all the requirements of the project, the end product of which is a high-quality draft manuscript. The candidate will have the opportunity to present the research findings at a conference, and depending on the progress of the project, co-author the research products and manuscript as part of the training and development of the candidate.
Education: a PhD in Finance/Economics or related fields.
Experience: The candidate is expected to have a strong knowledge of finance discipline, especially corporate finance and corporate governance.
Skills: The candidate is expected to be proficient in econometrics software that is commonly used in the discipline (STATA, SAS, and similar packages). The candidate is also expected to be familiar with various econometrics methods employed in social sciences. Strong presentation and writing skills as evidenced by prior conference presentations and publications are highly desirable.
