Based in Huntsville, the Planning Technician will report to the Planning Manager and will have a wide range of duties on a variety of land use planning projects.

What You\xe2\x80\x99ll Do:

The Planning Technician will be part of the Planning Team within TULLOCH Engineering. You will:

  • Work on both large and small development projects throughout northern and central Ontario
  • Use good planning principles to complete a range of tasks and provide technical planning support through the preparation of design concepts and plans in AutoCAD (rezoning concepts, preliminary site plans, draft plan of subdivision, etc.)
  • Help prepare Planning Act applications for Consent, Minor Variance, Zoning By-Law Amendments (Rezoning), Official Plan Amendments, Plan of Subdivision/Condominium, and Site Plan Control
  • Assist in preparing supporting materials to be used in Planning Justification Reports and/or planning application submissions
  • Review and interpret zoning bylaw requirements, while implementing by-law requirements throughout conceptual design work and identifying appropriate and reasonable by-law reliefs to add value for clients
  • Liaise with other professionals both internal and external to the organization
  • Help build client relations

Who You Are:
  • You have 0-3 years experience working in a land use planning and development role, either in the private sector or at the municipal level
  • You have working knowledge of the Planning Act, Provincial Policy Statement, municipal Official Plans, and Zoning or Development Permit By-Laws
  • Member of, or eligible for membership in, the Canadian Association of Certified Planning Technicians (CACPT)
  • You have strong experience with AutoCAD and other design applications
  • Knowledge and experience in Adobe programs (i.e. Illustrator, InDesign, etc.) is considered an asset
  • You can pivot and alter approach or recommendations to accomplish desired results
  • You are not afraid to raise your hand when you need help or guidance
What You Should Bring:

The ideal candidate will have a diploma from a recognized college program in Planning, Planning Technician, or other related program. Additionally, you should have:
  • High motivation with results-oriented focus
  • Superior organizational and multi-tasking skills
  • Strong interpersonal and critical thinking skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including analysis and negotiation skills
  • Ability to navigate confidential matters and manage sensitive data
  • A valid, Class \xe2\x80\x9cG\xe2\x80\x9d driver\xe2\x80\x99s license
