The Opportunity:

As a Pipeline Superintendent/Engineer for our Conventional Upstream Oil and Gas operations, you will manage numerous new pipeline (typically 3\xe2\x80\x9d to 12\xe2\x80\x9d), pipeline integrity maintenance and well site facilities construction projects while interfacing with multi-discipline and multi-functional teams both in the office and in the field. Utilizing your strong technical background and well-developed interpersonal abilities, you will be responsible for ensuring all projects are initiated and executed in a safe, accurate, cost effective, timely manner and in compliance with all relevant regulatory requirements. Canadian Natural operates in the four Western Canadian provinces (British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba) and you will be responsible for having a thorough understanding of all regulations and regulatory boards within those regions.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Ensure the project scope of work, design and documentation is complete and fully communicated to project stakeholders and contractors
  • Assist in specifying and ensuring availability of pipeline material and well site equipment
  • Compile and distribute construction packages to field project inspectors
  • Prepare and distribute RFP packages for pipeline and well site projects to potential contractors and award contracts to successful proponents
  • Input data and maintain project management system for pipeline activity
  • Analyze historical cost data and provide accurate cost estimates as required
  • Prepare AFEs for pipeline and well site construction and track associated costs on approved projects
  • Promote innovation by providing solutions that reduce construction, operating and maintenance costs for new and existing pipeline infrastructure
  • Provide supervision and direction to any safety, quality, scheduling, cost control and regulatory issues that arise on projects

  • Shift schedule: 5 days on, 2 days off - Monday to Friday

Skills & Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of pipeline construction and/or pipeline project coordination experience with relevant Engineering Technology diploma or Engineering degree
  • Experience in and familiarity with field operations combined with demonstrated supervisory capabilities
  • Familiarity with and understanding of:
  • Provincial regulatory bodies including but not limited to: Alberta Energy Regulator (AER) D-56, British Columbia Energy Regulator (BCER) / Oil and Gas Commission (OGC)
  • The oil and gas industry particularly construction and/or field operations
  • Pipeline and wellsite construction practices and quality control
  • Pipeline inline inspection technology
  • CSA Z662 Oil and Gas pipeline systems, CSA Z245.1 Line Pipe (latest versions) understanding an asset
  • Pipeline Rules / Regulations /Acts
  • Support software such as: AccuMap , Abadata, Cambio, Navis Works, Aucerna Execute, Microsoft Windows, etc.
