Working for Pembina means working safely.Overview:The role of the Technical Services Unit (TSU) is to provide technical expertise and consistency across all of Pembina\xe2\x80\x99s Business Units which involves the development and governance of standards, specifications and procedures. TSU works in conjunction with other Service Units to support the business objectives and operational requirements of the Business Units.Pembina\xe2\x80\x99s Technical Services Unit (TSU) is currently seeking an Engineer in Training for the Pipeline Integrity Management team. On behalf of Pembina\xe2\x80\x99s Business Units (BUs), TSU manages a comprehensive integrity management program, which includes facility integrity, pipeline integrity, technical services, geotechnical, Project Management Office (PMO) and Safety Security and Emergency Response.As a contributing member of the team, the Engineer in Training is responsible for supporting the team with upholding prudent pipeline integrity management practices through conducting technical analysis, compilation of technical data and preparation of engineering assessments for the integrity management program. The key aspect to the role includes interfacing within pipeline integrity team, operations, project teams, business development, internal audit teams, and regulatory bodies.As a key contributing member of the team, the Pipeline Integrity Engineer is responsible for technical analysis, oversight, and planning in the management of integrity threats of several pipeline systems.Responsibilities may include but not limited to:

  • Prepare and conduct engineering assessments to support changes in pipeline service conditions (pressure increases, conversions, class changes, etc.);
  • Support the operational changes through MOC\xe2\x80\x99s and interfacing with all stakeholders including regulatory bodies;
  • Conduct pipeline defect assessments from inspection data to inform engineering assessment recommendations as required;
  • Review mitigation programs such as historic repairs completed, cathodic protection programs and internal corrosion programs to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Review annual risk assessment results and compile additional data to refine assessments;
  • Organize and compile annual integrity review meetings by system;
  • Coordinate and compile preparation of annual budgets and long range plans for pipeline systems and business units;
  • Creation of reports and analysis based on system specific threat management;
  • Support mitigation program activities such as corrosion control, geohazard and damage prevention programs;
  • Establish relationships with Pipeline Integrity and Operations staff, and various integrity vendors and consultants;
  • Prepare and support delivery pipeline integrity presentations and document summaries to business units and external customers on an as needed basis;
  • Prepare and support evaluations of third party crossing requests;
  • Maintain continuous, up-to-date program and activity records and metrics;
  • Provide integrity data analysis, integrity support and integrity scope definition to projects across the company;
  • Facilitate the compilation of integrity data, records and programs for regulatory driven audits;
  • Coordinate close out of audit findings and reports; and
  • Support and contribute and equitable, inclusive and diverse workplace.
Qualifications:
  • Registered EIT with APEGA (or eligible for registration);
  • 1-4 years of relevant work experience involving pipeline integrity;
  • Knowledge of relevant industry best practices, codes, standards and regulations in Canada and USA such as CSA Z662, CFR 192, CFR 195;
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to draw conclusions from relevant data;
  • Demonstrated critical thinking skills;
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and collaboration skills;
  • Knowledge of threat assessments, risk assessments, monitoring and mitigation strategies for pipelines;
  • Knowledge of pipeline defect assessment, evaluation and repair methodologies;
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently given appropriate guidance, and able to prioritize multiple tasks on tight deadlines;
  • Willing to travel throughout Pembina\xe2\x80\x99s pipeline asset locations (approximately 10%); and
  • Valid Alberta Class 5 driver\xe2\x80\x99s license.
This position is considered \xe2\x80\x9cSafety Sensitive\xe2\x80\x9d and so will require Pre-Employment Drug & Alcohol Testing which includes testing for marijuana metabolites. You may also be required to provide a Driver\xe2\x80\x99s Abstract.The successful candidate must live within 100 km of Calgary, AB.The successful candidate must be legally able to work in the country of the position.
