Reporting to the Senior Payroll Manager, the Payroll Lead will work with both the Senior Payroll Manager and Payroll team to oversee the end-to-end payroll process and supervise a team of talented Payroll Administrators. You have the ability to spot and fix mistakes, communicate with multiple stakeholders and understand a wide variety of payroll adjustments. The Role In this role you will be expected to monitor and oversee the payroll process, supervise the payroll team, and process bi-weekly payrolls as required. You will also be accountable for the end-to-end payroll process which includes; timecard entries, uploads to payroll, all audit functions, all pay corrections and related adjustments required to ensure the accurate processing of pay. Other primary duties consist of training, orientation and support to users, customers, and coordinating and verifying work with Human Resources and Finance. What you will do:
Lead the Payroll team in the full cycle payroll process using our ERP system including on and off cycle payrolls
Review and suggest process improvement ideas to enhance efficiency
Respond to payroll enquiries and provide excellent customer service
Review data changes
Prepare payroll reports as needed
Process tax compliance including processing garnishments, tax payments and union dues etc
Provide leadership in new or changed processes relating to payroll while also providing coaching and training as needed
Supervision of the Payroll Associates by providing direction and guidance, monitoring training needs and performance, assisting Senior Manager with performance appraisals, and ensuring staff is knowledgeable in all policies and procedures related to payroll.
Develop and maintain a training schedule so staff are able to perform tasks related to their assigned payroll area
Provide input on associates\xe2\x80\x99 workload, breaks, and leaves, ensuring adequate coverage is provided to meet business needs.
Ensures staff are aware of and adhere to established policies, practices, and Collective Agreements
Assist Payroll Manager with Year End reconciliations and filings

Qualifications
5 years of experience with full cycle payroll and year end in a complex organizational environment
Experience in a payroll supervisor/lead position is preferred
Experience with payroll in an unionized environment is an asset
Ability to maintain high levels of accuracy and strong attention to detail
Customer service-oriented with effective communication and interpersonal skills
Strong working knowledge of Microsoft office products including MS-Excel and MS-Word
Proficiency with ERP accounting systems
A team player with the ability to work independently.
