Our Corporate Operations head office in Quesnel, BC, has an opportunity for a high-caliber candidate as an:

HOURLY PAYROLL LEAD

Reporting to the Payroll/HRIS Manager, the Hourly Payroll Lead will support the Canadian Hourly payroll team in 27 divisions across British Columbia, Alberta, Ontario, and Quebec through accurate and timely payroll processing, reconciliations, and system administration.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Process bi-weekly payrolls for hourly employees
• Provide support, guidance, and coaching to divisional payroll administrators
• Calculate and prepare payroll remittances & reconciliations
• Stay current with payroll regulations, standards, and work methods
• Ensure compliance with West Fraser policies and Canadian payroll regulations
• HRIS maintenance, testing & lead system change where required
• Identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiencies
• Maintain payroll processing documentation & forms
• Assist with Year End activities, including the reconciliation and preparation of T4s, T4As and RL1s
• Design reports & generate routine & ad-hoc reports
• Investigate and troubleshoot payroll and time entry issues
• Conduct data integrity audits
• Provide support to other roles within the department

Our ideal candidate would have:

• Minimum five years of related payroll experience
• National Payroll Institute designation or working toward certification
• Experience with unionized and multi-provincial payrolls
• Experience with implementation and integration, building reports, and conducting system validation\\testing
• Demonstrated critical thinking and analytic skills
• Ability to handle multiple projects, priorities, requests and meet strict deadlines
• Team player willing to learn
• Ability to professionally communicate in both verbal and written form

Following systems experience is an asset:

• UKG Pro
• UKG UTA \xe2\x80\x93 Time & Attendance or Dimensions
• UKG BI \xe2\x80\x93 Business Intelligence (Cognos BI)
• Microsoft Suite, specifically Excel
• WorkSight Time & Attendance
