About the Role*
We are currently looking for a Payroll and Accounts Receivable Accountant to lead payroll and benefits administration as well as AR billing. This is a fantastic role for a candidate who is looking to take ownership of payroll practices for the Company using your expertise and knowledge of payroll best practices in conjunction with applicable legislation. Our company is undergoing a very exciting growth phase and we are thrilled to have you be a part of it.

Main *Responsibilities
Payroll Administration 70%:

  • Process bi-weekly payroll for approximately 100 salary and hourly staff in a non-unionized environment
  • Maintain employee files on various internal systems and ensure reasonability of time entered
  • System maintenance, update/add tasks, running required monthly reports with staff time
  • Responsible for any special reporting (ie overtime, vacation etc), as requested
  • Monitor, in conjunction with HR, employee benefits
  • Responsible for full cycle - group insurance, WSIB, RRSP contributions, submission, G/L bookings etc
  • Any required payroll training for backup
Accounts Receivables 20%:
  • Prepare customer invoices for all project work, including agreement/work order review and task completion tracking to aid in revenue recognition
  • Follow up on customer collections
  • Resolve customer invoice discrepancies
  • Correspond and respond to inquiries
General Ledger 10%:
  • General G/L maintenance
  • Assist with preparation and recording of journal entries
Other Finance and Administrative duties 10%:
  • Assist with annual external audits. Completion of requested materials and schedules
  • Serve as a backup for selected finance functions as needed
  • Prepare &/or update any related finance SOPs
  • Other duties as assigned

E*ducation & Skills
  • Minimum 1 - 5 years in an payroll administrator/accountant role
  • PCP is a definite asset
  • Demonstrated skills and abilities to work as part of a team
  • Strong computer and Excel skills
  • Effective analytical and communication skills
  • Professional demeanor and ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Strong time management, problem solving, and prioritization skills
  • Flexibility to adapt to a changing and dynamic work environment
