Position Summary:

Under the general supervision of the Director, Consolidation and Senior Payroll Accountant, this position is responsible for the preparation of payroll related journal entries, monthly, quarterly and annual financial payroll and benefit reporting while contributing to a safe and welcoming work environment for all employees. Ensures adherence to all policies and procedures.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Reconciles payroll and benefit accounts
  • Reviews/validates bi-weekly payroll entries produced by HCM with payroll reports and posts final entries
  • Maintains remittance schedules
  • Prepares payroll bank reconciliations
  • Prepares payroll liability accounts reconciliation and working paper
  • Prepares bi-weekly payroll benefits files, submissions, cheque requisitions, reconciliations and reports
  • Prepares monthly, quarterly and annual WCB reporting and remittances for BC, ON and NS
  • Assists preparing monthly, quarterly and annual reports for Finance
  • Assists labour costs analysis
  • Prepares monthly capitalized labour hours to various projects
  • Prepares monthly reclass and adjustments
  • Prepares quarterly HR legal accruals and schedule
  • Prepares periodic schedule of labour charges between companies
  • Prepares annual BCLC reconciliation of reported BC casino labour with payroll T4
  • Prepares annual pension reports for Ontario and BC
  • Coordinates with internal and external auditors
  • Coordinates with Payroll and HR for resolution of any payroll and benefit related issues
  • Communicates effectively with all appropriate operational departments
  • Builds strong working relationships with guests and employees
  • Complies with licensing laws, health and safety and other statutory regulations
  • Performs other duties as assigned or directed
Education and Qualifications
  • Post secondary education in payroll/accounting/finance or suitable combination of education and experience
  • Payroll designation an asset, CMA/CGA level 4 and above an asset
  • Ability to exceed internal and external customer expectations through timely, effective and service oriented communication
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to details
  • Computer literacy in MS Office: experience with JDE or related accounting software, experience with Cognos an asset; strong Excel skills an asset;
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in payroll accounting
