Job Description

We are currently seeking a skilled and dedicated individual to join our pastry team as a Full-Time Pastry Chef de Partie at Nobu Hotel Toronto. As Pastry Chef de Partie, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of the pastry kitchen, including preparation, production, and execution of Nobu's signature pastry offerings. Responsibilities:

Perform food preparation tasks and production of various pastry items including cakes, tarts, desserts, and breads, ensuring high standards of quality, taste, and presentation. Execute advanced pastry techniques such as mixing, shaping, baking, and decorating with precision and attention to detail. Collaborate closely with other members of the pastry team to ensure efficient workflow, priority of orders, and timely delivery of pastry items during busy service periods. Contribute creative ideas to menu development, suggesting improvements and innovations to enhance the dining experience. Maintain strict adherence to food safety and hygiene standards, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations. Provide guidance and support to junior members of the pastry kitchen, helping them develop their skills and knowledge. Assist in monitoring inventory levels and placing orders for supplies as needed, minimizing waste and ensuring freshness. Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced environment, remaining calm under pressure and adjusting to changing priorities. Ensure cleanliness and organization in the pastry kitchen area, including equipment and workstations, to uphold sanitation standards. Work closely with front-of-house colleagues to fulfill special requests and dietary requirements, striving to exceed guest expectations at all times.

Requirements:

Proven experience as a Pastry Chef de Partie or a similar role in a fine dining kitchen environment. Extensive knowledge of culinary techniques, ingredients, and kitchen equipment. Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to multitask effectively. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team. Attention to detail and a passion for creating exceptional culinary experiences. Certification from a culinary school or equivalent training program is preferred. Food Handler certification. Ability to work flexible shifts including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required. Ability to stand for extended periods and lift heavy objects.
