The Opportunity:
The Parks Development Coordinator is responsible for the development and implementation of parks development strategies, statutory documents. The position requires a thorough knowledge of park development standards and process in Alberta. The Park Development Coordinator supports the department by processing land scape designs, statutory plan approvals, long range projects and policy development. This position also supports park development initiatives and is a key liaison between both our Planning and Parks departments and may take on special projects or support other areas as required.
Responsibilities include:
Review and approve park concept and detailed landscape plans
Review and process community development documents and park designs
Create and maintain professional relationships with the public and development community
Review landscape development plans and provide advice and guidance to customers
Act as a liaison between planning and the parks department regarding the design and land use of parks and other public open spaces
Review and respond to requests from internal departments and government agencies
Address a broad range of park issues through the review, research, preparation, and implementation of statutory plan and land use bylaw amendments
Manage various park related projects
Ensure procurement policies and procedures are followed
Address and follow-up with inquiries and concerns from residents
Provide technical input regarding specific park development related matters

You Bring:
A degree in Landscape Architecture and 2 years of experience or a diploma in Landscape Architecture and a minimum of 6 years of experience
Accredited Landscape Architect (AALA) or Landscape Architecture technologist (LAT)
Minimum of two (2) years' experience within a municipal setting
Commitment to time-management as demonstrated by past punctuality and attendance records
Proven leadership and supervisory skills as demonstrated by past performance
Proficient in working with computer software programs such as Windows 10, Microsoft office, Outlook, and Cityworks
Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills
Strong organization and prioritization skills
Ability to handle a variety of complex projects/tasks with competing priorities in a result-based environment
Demonstrates tact and diplomacy when working with other team members/coordinators and has established respectful working relationships
