We have an exciting opportunity in our Retail Sales Function on our Research & Development Team as Packaging Technologist. This role is based out of our Mississauga Head Office location (60% in-office, 40% remote) and plays a key role in leading planning and executing packaging projects within the Meals and Beverage and Snacks portfolios for the Canadian market, keeping close alignment to World Headquarters (WHQ) Meals & Beverage and Snacking specifications and acts as the technical expert for operational and supply chain packaging issues.

Specific accountabilities of this role:

DATABASE SPECIFICATION MAINTENANCE

  • Maintains updated packaging specifications for all items (metal/non-metal) between United States (US) Campbell network locations and co-manufacturers
  • Communicates and coordinates with Purchasing/Production/Marketing to ensure that correct packaging codes are in place with each formula
  • Obtains from suppliers, through Purchasing, any new or changed specifications and enters into database to begin the approval process
  • Receives and ensures new items have appropriate numbers, specifications and communicates information to initiators of projects
  • Initiate packaging performance specifications
PROJECT COORDINATION AND MANAGEMENT
  • R&D business lead, responsible for collaborating independently with key cross-functional partners in Canada, WHQ, Pepperidge Farm and Snyder Lance plants and co-manufacturers to deliver consumer desired packaging that drives business results
  • Manage multiple projects of moderate to high complexity
TECHNICAL SUPPORT
  • Manage and identify project technical risks
  • Technical expert for operational and supply chain packaging issues such as:
Conformance to specification

Development of testing protocols and test pack

Package design and on-line performance

Provide troubleshooting support for packaging lines at manufacturing facility and/or third-party locations

Shelf-Life studies

The ideal candidate will have:
  • University Degree, Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s in packaging or related field.
  • 5 years experience in Packaging or related field
  • Exceptionally organized with great attention to detail and able to adapt quickly to changing priorities and unexpected requests
  • Exceptional written, verbal, and presentation communication skills to communicate with a range of people from plant floor to CEO
  • Effective problem solving and negotiating skills
  • Effective technical expertise on multiple packaging materials or packaging/processing systems
  • Effective understanding the cost, performance drivers of packaging materials and simulated distribution environment
  • Effective TOPS or CAPE software experience
