Purdys Chocolatier is looking for a Regulatory Affairs Technologist to join our Quality Assurance team at our Factory in Vancouver! In this key role, the Regulatory Affairs Technologist will be responsible for maintaining and developing content (both electronic and print) related to labeling, nutrition and claims for our current products. Reporting to the Quality Assurance Manager, the main focus is ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements.

We are looking for an individual who is familiar with the relevant legislation governed by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency and Health Canada, and is able to anticipate future changes that may affect Purdys. The key highlights of the role include, but are not limited to: \xe2\x80\xa2 Calculate nutritional information and compile allergen information by analyzing ingredients and recipes \xe2\x80\xa2 Produce regulatory compliant labels which include components such as nutrition facts table, ingredient and allergen statements, etc. \xe2\x80\xa2 Review and approve all labelling artwork prior to submission for printing \xe2\x80\xa2 Maintain certifications appearing on labels (e.g. Kosher) \xe2\x80\xa2 Inspect and verify all packaging materials upon receiving for accuracy \xe2\x80\xa2 Document, implement, comply and enforce SQF policies and procedures \xe2\x80\xa2 Gather supplier documents and conduct supplier evaluation and risk assessment.

  • Develop, organize and maintain specification, allergen and other food safety and quality-related documents on materials and packaging \xe2\x80\xa2 Perform shelf life studies on new products and continuously evaluate the shelf life of existing products \xe2\x80\xa2 Participate and perform duties as assigned for New Product Introduction as the quality representative \xe2\x80\xa2 Review, evaluate and approve new ingredients to be introduced into the factory \xe2\x80\xa2 Review and approve the legality of any claims regarding existing, new and/or reformulated products \xe2\x80\xa2 Periodically update the retail allergen manual and Purdys website \xe2\x80\xa2 Review recipes against other standards for accuracy and update and maintain recipes when necessary \xe2\x80\xa2 Advise label implications with any alterations to existing formulations \xe2\x80\xa2 Respond to compliance related questions involving existing, new and reformulated products and raw materials, including packaging \xe2\x80\xa2 Reviews marketing materials for accuracy and compliance to regulations when appropriate. \xe2\x80\xa2 Other duties as assigned We would like to hear from people with: \xe2\x80\xa2 Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s Degree in Food Sciences, or Food Technology \xe2\x80\xa2 Familiarity with nutrition data platforms and CFIA and Health Canada regulations pertaining to labeling, nutrition and health claims \xe2\x80\xa2 Proficiency with MS Office suite \xe2\x80\xa2 Experience with Genesis or other quality related programs \xe2\x80\xa2 Strong knowledge of GFSI-scheme in a food environment \xe2\x80\xa2 Working knowledge of international labelling requirements and claim statements Purdys Chocolatier recognizes the value of skills and knowledge gained outside of formal education and paid employment.
