We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Optometric Assistant to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will support patient care, assist with clinical and administrative tasks, and ensure smooth clinic operations. Duties
Greet and assist patients during their visit, ensuring a welcoming experience
Conduct intake procedures, including collecting patient history and verifying insurance information
Measure vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, and oxygen saturation levels
Assist with ophthalmic testing and preliminary assessments using EMR systems like Epic and other electronic medical records (EMR) platforms
Maintain aseptic techniques to ensure a sterile environment during examinations and procedures
Support optical services by assisting with frame selection, lens measurements, and retail sales of eyewear products
Manage medical records accurately, ensuring HIPAA compliance and confidentiality of patient information
Perform front desk duties including scheduling appointments, answering phone calls, and managing patient flow
Support billing and coding processes related to ophthalmology services and pediatrics as needed
Educate patients on eye health, treatment plans, and product options while promoting retail sales when appropriate
Requirements
Prior experience in medical office settings, ophthalmology or optometry preferred
Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and ophthalmic procedures
Familiarity with EMR systems such as Epic or similar platforms
Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient privacy and confidentiality
Experience with intake procedures, vital signs measurement, and aseptic techniques
Retail sales experience with skills in retail math is a plus
Excellent communication skills for front desk interactions and patient education
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
Knowledge of medical billing, coding, and clinic operations is advantageous
Experience working with pediatric patients is desirable
