Job Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated Optometric Assistant/Ophthalmic Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will assist our optometrists and Eye Care Physician in providing exceptional eye care services to our patients. This role requires a blend of technical skills and patient care.
Duties:
- Conduct preliminary testing for patients, including visual acuity, intraocular pressure, color vision, and other diagnostic tests
- Prepare patients for examinations by documenting medical histories and medications
- Perform diagnostic testing using specialized equipment including VFs, HRTs, OCT's, RP's and ERG's
- Educate patients on proper eye care procedures and contact lens handling
- Maintain accurate patient records in written and electronic medical records systems
- Handle occasional front desk duties such as scheduling appointments and verifying insurance coverage
Skills:
- Proficiency in using electronic medical records and written medical records
- Sales skills with a focus on diagnostic eye testing and eye care products
- Knowledge of medical terminology related to optometry and ophthalmology
- Experience in a medical office and/or retail sales environment
- Excellent patient care and communication skills
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
