Optometric Assistant
Job Description
Acuity Eye Care is seeking an optometric assistant to work 32 to 40 hours per week.
Our ideal candidate is friendly, compassionate and able to multi-task. Having the ability to compassionately and effectively communicate with patients and learn new skills is essential. Experience in a professional or medical work place setting is an asset, but not required.
Responsibilities include:
Take patients' general medical and ophthalmic history
Operate ophthalmic testing and measuring instruments to aid optometrists in assessing patients' vision and current eye wear.
Instruct patient on diagnostic tests and record results.
Administer eye drops as directed by the optometrists
Clean and maintain ophthalmic instruments, supplies and equipment
Instruct patients in proper contact lens applanation, removal and care.
Assist with checking patients in and managing insurance and payments
Answer and place phone calls as needed.
