  • Permanent full-time working 40 hours/week, Monday \xe2\x80\x93 Friday, with occasional weekends and evenings required
  • $23.00-$25.00/hr commensurate with experience

Description

Yukon Rendezvous is guided by its Vision, Values and Mission. The Yukon Sourdough Rendezvous Society is currently seeking an interested and qualified individual to be part of our team . The organization has a strong volunteer-based Board of Directors, two full-time office staff, and seasonal staff. The Operations Coordinator is responsible for the day to day operations of the society. This position provides support to the Executive Director by focusing on the operations of the festival from planning to execution.. The festival brings the community together after a long winter, to break through cabin fever, reminiscent of the Klondike Gold Rush of 1897-1898, with costumes and performances that will delight all of the senses. Yukon Rendezvous has just wrapped up another successful festival for 2023 and the momentum for the next festival is beginning to build already, with exciting themes and activities. We are currently in the planning stages to celebrate the 60th anniversary of Yukon Rendezvous Festival in 2024.

General Position Duties: Events
  • Work with the Executive Director and other office staff in the creation and implementation of special projects/festival events throughout the contract period;
  • Maintain a working relationship with vendors, venues, contractors, etc.;
  • Work with event volunteers and provide advice or assistance as required;
  • Record keeping and onsite event management;
  • Undertake and implement event planning and logistics, including registration processes, venue space allocation, social events, event statistics and reports, audiovisual, catering, venue liaison and contracts, submitting permits such as road closure requests, special event permit applications, etc.;
  • Plan and manage registration desk and event staffing, including volunteers;
  • Build internal and external festival schedules as directed by the Executive Director, especially the transportation and volunteer shift schedules
  • Assist with Axe Throw Trailer bookings/pop-ups, equipment rental bookings, and event (bar) service bookings.
Sponsorship
  • Obtain substantial event sponsorships annually for the Rendezvous Festival;
  • Ensure sponsorship agreements and recognition are correctly implemented and fulfilled.
Operations
  • Overall asset management of festival and society, including conducting inventories and overseeing event asset requests;
  • Primary Festival Runner and head of transportation.
Other Duties
  • Recruit, train and track volunteers, including creating shifts in Volunteer Local and liaising with the Volunteer Coordinator;
  • Assist Executive Director and other office staff with duties and tasks as required;
  • Maintain general upkeep of the office and regular office duties as required;
Essential Qualifications:
  • Comfortable working outdoors for an extended period of time.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs unassisted.
  • Experience understanding and working in an event environment.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • An understanding of the Yukon Rendezvous Festival.
  • Valid Canadian Driver\'s License.
Desired Qualifications:
  • Experience working in an office environment, such as filing, answering phones, etc.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to take initiative and work independently, as well as in a team setting.
  • Current Standard First Aid and CPR certification will be considered an asset.
